June 12th, NorthStar at Eclipse - Finished the few parts I had to change, Later that day we were lucky enough to have our good friend Denis Desloge (Va.) put the final vocal track on. Now it's time to mix.
June 13th, Jekyll Island Writers Circle at Latitude 31 - Levi Lowery, Darryl Wise. Ed Pickett and David Besley. This was a special night with some special writers.
June 14th, Dave at The Corner Bar - Another rainy night. Good thing I was inside. Kruz did a good job even got an encore.
June 15th, NorthStar at Captain Stans - It's always great playing behind the magic fence!
June 16th, NorthStar with Brady and Scott at Latitude 31 - Nice breeze, no bugs, good crowd and good music.
June 17th, Dave at Zaharias - Beautiful night! Great place to play!
I am looking forward to this week. We will start mixing "Keepin' It Real" Northstar. The first song to mix will be "With You/ Without You". I have spent over a week not watching the news (except the weather) and all the other crapy stuff thats on the TV these days. I still think there is a lot more good things going on (people, animals and events) than there are bad. If there is programing like that let me know I will be all over it. As for now I guess it's books for me. Thanks for letting me live my dream! "Keepin' It Real!" - David

This week Kurt and Frankie will be in the studio laying down the final tracks for "Keepin' It Real". I can't wait for everyone to hear this CD. It's also our 13th anniversary (Theresa and Dave). I've also made a point this week to stop watching all the negative bull that is on TV. I refuse to believe there is just bad stuff going on. I am in search of programing that doesn't sensationalize the bad and just makes a by- line out of the good. I have to believe there are more good people than bad. Lets make shows about the hard work and effort the good people in the world do and make a by-line out of the fools that are committing these terrible crimes against their fellow man and animals. The Big Lonesome is writing new music and will be going into the studio soon. Our NorthStar CD "Keepin' It Real" is getting closer to completion. I wrote a new tune last night! And I am finally getting ready to start my #3 solo CD.
Finally I was so sorry to hear about the death of Jill's twin brother Jim. He was my friend for 25 years and I will miss him very much. Go be with God the fight is over now!

March 19th, NorthStar with Brady Green and Friends at Zaharia's - Had a good night! The belts separated on my tire and my crossover quit working so I was a bit frazzled. Still I had a great time! Gregg Chirico sat in on a couple of tunes. Kruz got up and played (with Brady on one tune). Looking forward to our next gig at Zaharias (April 16th). Come and check it out!

March 24th, NorthStar with Matt Williams at Latitude 31- Ed and I were joined by Matt. We were playing some good music and the crowd was getting into it. Then came the rain! Matt and Ed were doing some good pickin'. It was my first time playing with Matt and I was real impressed! Later the rain let up and we decided to go at it again. Then comes The Turkey's (Chris, Harold, Kyle and Brian). We pretty much jammed out the rest of the night. I can't wait to hear these guys at the festival tomorrow!
March 25th, The 2nd Annual Americana Blues Festival, Jekyll Island, GA - Bob Margolin, The Turkeys, NorthStar and The WharfRatzs - This was a big success! What a great combination of music! Everyone played their butts off. The jam was a lot of fun. It was great to be on the stage again with my friend and blues legend Bob Margolin. I think Ed and everyone else involved did a great job and I can't wait until next year!!!

March 6th, The Big Lonesome @ Greggs House - Had our first rehearsal with Kurt Johnston. It went great! It was good to get back with the band and play our music!
March 6th - Dave @ The Oasis - Pretty crowded! I was a little tired from rehearsal but had a good time in spite of it.
March 7th, NorthStar @ Captain Stan's - Great night! I had a blast playing with Ed. There's only a few real magic moments in the day to day playing and this was one of them! Shaking Ed's hand at the end of the night, we both knew it was special! That's what it's all about!
March 8th, Brady Green @ Eclipse - Brady was in the studio and put a guitar part on "Bunnyman" and added a back-up part to "With You/ Without You". Kurt Johnston will also add a couple of tracks on this song. I sang " Fast As The Wind". Came up with a couple of other ideas while we were there.
March 8th, Dave @ The Corner Bar - A little slow but still had fun. Brought back a couple of old tunes "Loser's Hit Parade", "The Times They Are A Changing" and " I Started A Joke". Kruz did a good job. Good night overall!
March 9th, Dave @SeaJay's - This was a good gig! Tommy got up and sang " Operator". Good start to the weekend!
March 10th, Dave @Latitudes - It was nasty out (windy and cold). There was some construction going on and they had takin' down the curtains that break the wind. I thought to bitch, but then I remembered the change I made when Iwent solo. I sucked it up didn't cry and had a great night! Thanks everyone for hangin' out with me!
March 11th, Dave @ Creekside - It was windy and cold again but what a crowd! Had the whole cast of "Kiss Me Kate" out dancing. It's good to be back at Creekside! Thanks for hangin' out with me everybody! See you next month!
What a week! It was nasty weather for the most part but everything turned out great! Looking forward to getting some more work done on "Keepin' It Real". We have Woody coming in this week. I also can't wait to hear the tracks Wayne did for "The Big Lonesome Live" CD. Thanks for letting me live my dream! "Keepin' It Real" - David

February 13th, NorthStar w/ Brady Green and Friends at Zaharias - It was cold. I had to cancel my solo gig at Zaharias the day before. Talked with the rest of the band and Angelica and decided we would go for it no matter what! I'm so glad we did! We had the Greek god Derek Hess on drums and even had Jack Web play the bag pipes on a John Prine tune we all recorded together over 20 years ago! Thanks for supporting this event! We will be back March 19th. There is no telling who will be there. Stop by and check it out!
February 14th, Dave at Harry's - This place is growing on me. Had a nice crowd. Met some new folks. It was good Valentine's Day! Thanks Rob!
February 15th, Jim's Place (Elkton) - Got together and had lunch with Brady Green. We talked through some of the parts Brady will be singing and playing on "Keepin' It Real" our next NorthStar release. By the way, the food is great there.
February 15th - The Corner Bar
Went by to see my friend Daryll Wise. Kruz got up and played a few also a new old face in town Clyde Walker got up and had a nice jam with Daryll. I was a little under the weather so I didn't perform. It was good to listen though I enjoyed it!
February 16th, Dave at The Corner Bar - There was a little confusion and I didn't play tonight. There was a semi private party and the band (Old Enough To Know) performed at the function. It was just easier to let them play out the evening than try to make 2 set changes in 3 hours. We tried to get the message out but stayed around to apologize to our friends that did not receive it. My heart was warmed by the # of people that were there on my behalf. Thanks and sorry for the confusion.
February 17th, Eclipse - I cleaned up a the live tracks from The Big Lonesome show we did at the Amphitheater.
February 17th, NorthStar at Latitude 31 - Yet another private party we found out about at the last minute. And another gig some of our friends showed up at. We had Randy and Danny from VA and Bruce and Renee from Saint Augustine show up. We had a chance to hang a little but once again we apologize for the confusion! It was good to play with brother Ed!
February 18th, NorthStar at Red frog and Mc Toads - What a night! Had a great crowd, played some good music, ate some good wings! This was a fun gig! Good job McToads!
February 19th, Dave at Oasis - It was Theresa's 50th surprise birthday party!!!!! A bunch of folks showed up and we really surprised her! Good job Brianna! Thanks everyone for showing up! Gregg stopped in sporting his 18 pound weight loss! Congratulations!
This has been a busy but good week! I am ready for a day or 2 off. It's going to be good to play golf with Randy, Danny and Frankie. It's been a long time! Hopefully we will get some more done on the "Keepin' It Real" CD. Thanks for letting me live my dream! "Keepin' It Real!" -David

February 8th, Daryll Wise @ The Corner Bar - Went down to see Daryll Wise. He was kind enough to pick up my banner I left in Tybee Island (Wind Rose Cafe). We played a few songs together "See You Later So Long" (Besley/Dunaway) and "Ain't Life A Mess" (Besley) and "Upside Down" (Besley). Rick Kyson stopped by and even Daryll couldn't get him up to play. I'm going to find out where he's playing.
February 9th, Eclipse - Had a great session with Brady Green. He did 2 bass tracks and 3 background vocals in 1 hour. Great job! We are really lucky once again to have Brady on our CD "Keepin' It Real". If you didn't know, Brady was on our first CD "My Bird Still Ain't Talkin". We recorded it in the late 80's. Frankie Urzetta stopped by (The Big Lonesome) and he is going to do a drum and vocal track on "Bunnyman".
February 9th, Dave @ The Corner Bar - Had a nice crowd! It's always good to see the usual suspects! Kruz was still under the weather so I was on my own! Hope you get bettter soon my friend!
February 10th, Dave @Latitude 31 - It was a nasty night, chilly and raining. I thought there was going to be nobody there, happily, I was wrong once again. I had a great night, made some new friends. Met up with Ed after the gig and had a couple of drinks at the old hotel.
February 11th, NorthStar @Zackry's - It was good to play with Ed again. It was windy and cold though. We played as long as we could. My hat goes out to the folks that hung out with us. Also it was Leigh Ann's birthday. I think there's some pictures floating around.
February 12th, Dave @ Zaharia's - Cancelled, just too cold!
Another great week! Got some more tracks done for NorthStar's "Keepin' It Real". Played some good gigs! Starting to get the urge to write again! Thanks for letting me live my dream! "Keepin' it Real!" - David

January 30th, Drinks and Dinner - Had a nice night. Met Gregg and Susane for drinks at the Elk's Club (where you might see The Big Lonesome someday). Then met Berry and Lydia at Carraba's for dinner. It was a table of bass players and their better halves. A good night, we had a lot of laughs. Let's do it again soon!
January 31st, The Ride - Went for a 3 hour tour with Brady Green. We talked about his ideas for our new NorthStar CD, "Keepin' It Real". We had some hot wings, bourbon and beer at The Castaways. What a time we had!
February 1st, Daryl Wise @The Corner Bar - Theresa and I went down to see Daryl Wise and Friends. What a player and a nice guy! Got up and did "It's a Great Life"(Besley), The Reason (Besley/Irwin) and Poor-Dom (Besley). Dan Bagan stopped by for a beer and a listen. Stop by and check Daryl out!
February 2nd, Dave @ The Corner Bar - What a night! Daryl Wise showed up and played a few of his tunes. What a player, singer/songwriter he's the real deal! I would also like to thank Daryl for picking up my banner from Tybee Island. I left it there last week (Wind Rose Cafe). Also another great player Rob Peck showed up and played a few songs on the harp. He is such a talent, and has been a good friend for many years! Kruz was under the weather and didn't perform. Hopefully, he will be better next week!
February 3rd, NorthStar @Eclipse - I did some work on NorthStar's "Keepin' It Real". Added harmony to "There Stands the Glass". Got the "Been All Around This World" tracks ready for Brady Green. It was a good session. Things are coming together it's exciting!
February 3rd, Dave @RedFrog and McToads Gub -n- Pub - Had a good crowd! I was a little overwhelmed the first time I played there (very loud and crowded). It is a little unnerving for a solo artist like myself. All I did was think back to Wednesday's at Churchill's Attic with Ed (The Seiners now NorthStar) in the late 80's and realized this gig is mild compared to that. And somehow it got better. I had fun!
February 4th, Dave @ Sea Jay's - It was a nice drive, had a chance to think about things I have to do. It was a laid back gig. One I needed after the night before. I like this room it can be magic at times!
February 5th, Dave @Outback Crab Shack - I was afraid of the weather, but it turned out to be a nice day! This has always been one of my favorite places to eat. So I was excited about the idea of playing here every now and then. Met Ms. Martha, what a nice lady! Brady Green showed up with his brother Bruce. I would like to thank everyone else who showed up. This is a great place!
February 5th, Bruce and Renee's - Theresa, Brianna and I were invited to Bruce and Ranee's for a Super Bowl Party. What a set up Julie's little poppers, Ranee's Ribs, Jim's Rum Cake, A Big Screen TV, the rest of the gang and a beer. I was in heaven! Thanks you guys!
This has been a good week. Had a chance to spend some time with my friends. Music is important to me, but without family and friends there would be no reason to do it! Thanks for letting me live my dream! "Keepin' it Real!" -David

January 23rd, The Super Hackers @Hurricane Patties -What a night! Everyone was on! And everyone was there! What a way to welcome our newest member Kurt Johnston! Great job everyone! I also enjoyed hanging out with the guys at the end of the night it's been a long time since thats gone on. We would like to wish Walt the best of luck! Looking forward to the next gig February 27th. We would also like to thank Barry Dunaway and Eric Searcy for stopping by (2 great players and friends).
January 25th, Daryl Wise @The Corner Bar - Went out to support my fellow Singer/ Songwriter. What a talented guy! I was knocked out by his songs and his playing. We did a couple of my tunes Upside Down (Besley) and Livin' In The Past (Besley/Berardo). Also did Yankee Lady (Jesse Winchester). It was a lot of fun! Kruz was there with Trudy and also played some. If I am off thats where I'll be on Wednesday's.
January 26th, Eclipse - Got a lot of work done on "Keepin' It Real". The new NorthStar CD. I added a few bass tracks and cleaned up a few endings. I will be out with Brady Green this week. He is going to do some tracks on our new CD. We are going to get together and have a few drinks and make a few plans. I can't wait, it sounds like we will have some fun!
January 26th, Dave @ The Corner Bar - I finally have all my system together from the power surge. And had a nice crowd to play too! Kruz did a good mini-set as he calls it. I was surprised to see my good friend Barry Dunaway and Lydia walk in. And I was proud to play "See You Later, So Long". A song Barry and I wrote for my new CD "Hopeless Romantic". Good night overall!
January 27th - Dave @Sea Jay's - There was a pretty full house. Good start for my short road trip. Met some folks from Alabama that want 'Dave" to come to their town. Sounds like fun, lets book it! Thanks Tommy and staff!
January 28th, Dave @ The Wind Rose Cafe - Mark, Nell and Howard it was so good to see you guys! I had one of my best times ever at The Wind Rose! I can't wait to get back! It was good to hang out with my friends and play my music!
January 29th, Dave @ Zaharias - I got there to set up and there was a pretty cold breeze blowing. At that time Angelica and I decided it was going to be to uncomfortable for me to play or sit and listen to me play. Theresa said a lot of people were coming down and were disappointed. Angelica and I were disappointed too! Thanks for understanding!
Besides not playing yesterday I had a great week! My new CD is out "Hopeless Romantic". I did some work on NorhtStars upcoming CD "Keepin' It Real". Had a great gig with The Super Hackers. Learned a couple new tunes! Saw and played for some old friends! A great week overall! Thanks for letting me live my dream! "Keepin' It Real" -David

January 2, 2012, Gregg's Oyster Roast - Gregg got a new fire pit and asked Theresa and I if we wanted to pick up a bushel of oysters and stop by. We couldn't pass that up. We had a great time!
January 5th, Dave @ The Corner Bar - A small but mighty crowd! We had Kruz back. He was in good form! We also had the Fernando Dancers and The Bunny Man in the house. Good job everybody!
January 6th, Eclipse - In the studio working on NorthStar's "Keepin' It Real". Put a bass part on "Love" and started a mix on "The Battle of New Orleans"
January 6th, Dave @ Hurrican Grille and Wings - As I was setting up the temperature was dropping. I remember saying to Kevin that if nobody showed up we could work something out. Once again I was wrong, it turned out to be a great crowd!
January 7th, Dave @ SeaJay's - Man it was dead! I still had fun playing requests for the few people and staff that were there!
January 8th Dave @ Zaharias - There was an electrical problem that blew a bunch of my equipment up so I was unable to play. I apologize to the folks that showed up and that were planning on showing up (thank God Theresa knows how to text). I may have been down on Sunday but not out, see you on Thursday at The Corner Bar.
It has been quite a week. I know the article in the Ignition Music Magazine said my CD would be out by Christmas. It's a little late (counting the days). This was a true test for me this week and I found out there are a lot of good people around. Thanks Angelica, Jim Stafford, Theresa, Gregg, Brother Will and Dennis at Audio 3000. I couldn't have done it without you all. Thanks for letting me live my dream! "Keepin' It Real" - David
