December 9th, Sheryl and Jim's Christmas Party - Theresa, Julie, Jack and I went to the party together. What a spread. Everything was wonderful. Thanks Sheryl and Jim for the bottle of Grand Maenier which Brady and I enjoyed a couple shots. I look forward to next year. I'm so glad Jim is okay. We dropped Julie and Jack back at the Oasis where we picked them up. Wes Talton was playing. It was good to hear my old friend. I still can't stand that they start pilling condiments up in front of the artist and sweeping the place up and resetting for breakfast before the artist's finish playing. I will address that again if I ever return to this venue. Fun night!
December 10th, DAVE at Creekside - George was with me tonight. It was real cold out so we set up inside. We had a nice crowd. Bob Semanchik sat in with George. He is going to be playing our Songwriters night on December 18th.
December 12th, Private Party - Tonight Brady, Frankie and I played at the BBC (outside). It was cold as hell, but a bunch of great folks hung out with us. Bobby was a great host and everyone was real nice. Hopefully we will get a chance to play another one of these events.
December 13th, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - A little chilly so I set up in the tent. We had a nice crowd. I enjoyed it. Thanks Abe, JJ and staff!
December 14th, DAVE at Corner Bar - I was all by my lonesome, everyone was out of town or others occupied. I had fun but miss the great players I share the stage with on this gig. George Reeves will be covering me for the next Thursday. I will be on Anna Maria Island doing a benefit for Toys for Tots at Duffy's with Chuck Caudill, John Prestia and a host of others.
December 15th, The Free Range Chickens - Creekside - My first time sitting in with The Chickens! Derek Hess, Brady Green, John Winters and I hit the stage about 6pm. I had a blast. I hope I didn't mess these great players up to bad. I have know John Winters for over 20 years and this was our first gig together. I have always been a big fan of John's music. It was an honor to share the stage with him. Derek Hess is a great drummer and fun guy to play with. Really enjoyed doing "The Shape I'm In" with Derek singing. Brady was a great help and sounded great as always. Good job on the cow bell Barb!
December 16th, DAVE at Zaharia's - It was cold but we decided to set up and play anyway. It was a good idea. I had a great crowd.
December 17th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - A nice sunny afternoon out on the porch. What a difference a day makes. Bob and Carol Semanchik stopped by. I'm looking forward to playing with him, Bob and Charley tomorrow at the Corner Bar for our Songwriters Night. Thanks Brian, Candy, Dave and staff!
It's been a long week or so feeling a little under the weather. Starting to come out of it I think. I talked to Barry (Cave Canem Studios) and Dan (IAUGI Studios), we are getting ready to re-start our projects. I'm excited! Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! November 20th, Songwriter's Night at the Corner Bar - This week we featured George Reeves, Jack and Amy Sizemore along with Bob and I. What a great night! Jack and Amy kicked butt with their music. I have always been a fan of Jack's for many years and now I'll add Amy to the list. They have moved back to Florida from Nashville and we are sure glad they did. Hope we can get them to join us again in the future. George you kicked butt too! Next month we will be joined by Bob Semanchik from Connecticut and Charley Simmons. Come check it out on December 18th at the Corner Bar.
November 21st, DAVE at the Chianti Room - It was a nice afternoon on the porch. I stopped by the Bunnery as I have since to big protest (ridiculous Flagler) . I never even knew it was there and will support them from here out.

November 25th, DAVE at Merry ShrimMmas Festival, Jekyll Island, Ga. - Another nice evening, still under the weather, barely made it through. Still as bad as I felt, it was a good time. Thanks Jekyll Island and my brother Ed Pickett for having NorthStar and me at your event. See you next year!
November 26th, DAVE at Creekside - I had gentleman George with me tonight. Dan and Susy were having a house party so I figured we weren't going to have many of our regulars in the crowd. Still it was a real good turn out. I heard the house party was as well. I always enjoy playing with George. I was still under the weather so George jumped in and did some of his music. He sounded great! I'm very thankful to have the next two days off . Thanks Creekside!

November 7th, DAVE at the Chianti Room - It was a nice afternoon out on the porch. I met Micah from the WillowWacks as he was headed into his gig at the Prohibition Kitchen. We have to get them to one of our songwriter's night. I will talk to Bob about it. I stopped by the Bunnery Bakery and Cafe before the gig. I never knew the place was there until the college kids made a big deal about someone's Halloween costume. I disagree with what they did and will patronize this place because of it. Everyone seemed real nice and the food was great!
November 8th, Songwriting - George and I met at Don Oja Dunaway's house to work on a Civil War song we are writing. There's no one better to write with on this subject. October 31st, DAVE at Chianti Room - It's a nice time to be playing in Florida weather wise. I was out on the porch and had a nice bunch of folks to play for. It was good to see my friend Jack Sizemore who stopped by for a couple beers and to shoot the shit. Jack and his wife Amy will be a part of our Songwriter's night at The Corner Bar on November 20th along with Bob Patterson and George Reeves.
November 1st, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - A nice evening out on the sidewalk. Abe had new floors put in the place, looks great! It was good to see my regular friends, you know who you are. Thanks!
November 2nd, DAVE at Corner Bar - Brady was back with me tonight. He's pretty much healed up. Frankie was not feeling well so he didn't make it. We had a great crowd. I knew almost everyone, I'm a lucky guy. I had a great time playing with Brady, we tried a couple new tunes, "Penny Lane" and "Midnight Blue". I enjoyed the evening.
November 3rd, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Great weather, nice view, big crowd, just a great night out on the porch!
November 4th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Nice afternoon, dosen't get much better than this!
November 5th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - They were calling for a shower, though it looked like it, the rain never came. Great night! Great weekend! Thanks Brian, Candy and staff, you guys are the best! Also, thanks Jake for sitting in!
I pretty much stop at Walmart everyday to pick up something or other. It's on my way home from the beach in the early morning. I will not be doing that anymore because of the never ending search to make a bigger profit. 1-You can't find a shopping cart that doesn't steer itself. 2-They rearranged the store so you can find anything. 3-The self checkouts (which I don't use) have taken over the store and they are punishing you for not using them by opening one or two registers with live cashiers. Now you stand in long lines to pay for a couple items. I'm a people kind of person and I am now in search of a better place to shop. Winn Dixie and Target are going to be my new go tos. Goodbye Walmart! Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! October 25th, Hurricane Grill and Wings - They were closed for renovations. See you next week.
October 26th, DAVE at Corner Bar - Frankie joined me tonight. Brady was still under the weather. I had a nice crowd. My Dad was in the audience. Hopefully it will be the three of us next week. I think it's about time for George and Laurence to show up too. This is going to be an exciting winter for music. I can't wait!
October 27th, DAVE at Zaharia's - It was a blast! It's always fun to play this venue. Angelika and staff are the best.
October 28th - OFF
October 29th, DAVE atCreekside - Frankie joined me again this evening. We set up inside. It was windy and cold outside. We had a nice crowd and played some good music. I saw an old friend and a great musician Steve Shanholtzer, he was having dinner.
It's been a pretty relaxing week. I made some music with my friend Frankie. I missed Brady. I did a lot of yard work. I figured out my new sound board and watched the movie "Wake The Dead". October 16th, Songwriter's Night at The Corner Bar - I was able to get a little rest after the Virginia trip before I repacked the truck and headed for the monthly Songwriter's Night at the Corner Bar. This month we were lucky enough to have Michael Lagasse and Todd Jones. Both of these guys are great talents and good guys. The work they do together is defiantly worth giving a listen. It's always good to see and play with my old friend Bob. I am so lucky to be a part of this event every month. We will be posting our next artists for November 20th soon.
October 17th, DAVE at Chianti Room - I spent a nice evening on the porch. There was a nice breeze, no rain and some great folks that came out. It dosen't get much better than this.
October 18th, Travel Day - On the road again, we are headed up to see our friends George and Deborah Reeves and to play a little music and maybe write some. We left about 11:30 am and arrived about 8:30 pm. We made good time. It's time to hit the sack!
October 19th, DAVE and George at JJ's Canteen and Eatery - There was nobody in there until just before starting time. We were a little nervous. Like it does so many other times, it turned out great! This is one of the coolest places. If you're ever in Glenville NC, you must check it out. We had a nice meal and a nice time playing. Thanks Joel, and staff you guys are the bomb! We also started on a new tune earlier today (no title yet). Also would like to recognize Jon Zachary a local singer-songwriter, thanks for stopping by.
October 20th , Mica's - DAVE and George - After a nice quiet and peaceful day, a great breakfast and lunch (thanks Deborah). We worked on our new song a little. We mostly bullshitted about what's been going on with the both of us. I think we came up with some chorus chords. We hopped in the van and headed for Mica's. This was an outside gig and there was a chill in the air. We offered up our heater that was offered to us to the audience keep warm. We thought we would soon be on fire. We had a great time and finished the gig just before it got to cold. Then headed back up the mountain.
October 21st, JJ's Canteen and Eatery - Songwriter's Night - This is a new event for JJ's. Normally, they are closed on Saturday. This will be our 2nd Songwriter's Night at this venue. The first was great! George and I were going to be joined by Isaiah Breedlove and Goeff McBride. Isaiah called that afternoon and said he had some family issues and would not be able to make it. We were bummed but the show must go on. I hope everything turned out okay for Isaiah. Geoff arrived with family in tow and ready to go to work. We sound checked, had dinner, then it was show time. George was working triple duty backing both Geoff and I up and doing his own music. He did a great job on all fronts. Geoff McBride was a real treat (2nd season of The Voice). What a voice he had, wow. George and Deborah had been talking about him before I met him. What a nice guy and what a talent! It's really my favorite time in music when three guys can get together and make music on their own and together. We had some real moments during our two plus hour show. I was smiling from ear to ear. Thanks Geoff it was a pleasure and I hope we get a chance to write some and play together in the future. You are the real deal.
October 22nd, Travel Day - We left Yellow Mountain about 6:30 am. It was our regular ride home until we talked with the Dunaway's. Barry had played a show with .38 Special the night before in Richmond Hill. We knew they were headed for George and Deborah's for a couple days before Barry had to fly out and catch back up with his band. We decided to meet at Duke's Barbecue off exit 22 in SC and it turned out to be a good choice. It was fun to catch up with our friends and have a good lunch. We said our goodbyes and headed out in different directions. We arrived home by dinnertime.
A perfect weekend all good memories. Theresa was a little under the weather the whole time but was a real trooper. I couldn't have done it without her. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! Listen to my music on Spotify and check out my videos on YouTube. Keep'in It Real! - David

- David

October 9th, NorthStar at Creekside was cancelled. Creekside closes on Mondays until February. Judy offered us another day of the week, but after talking to the band members, we decided to wait until Creekside re-opens on Mondays. Our next NorthStar date at Creekside will be February 12th. If anything changes I will let you know. Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you next year at the wonderful and fabulous Creekside!
October 10th - OFF
October 11th, Travel Day - Theresa, Frankie and I headed north to Hague, VA and Cole Point Tavern. We arrived at about 2 am. The trip was uneventful trip, but long. We are ready to get some rest before the start of this long weekend.
October 12th, DAVE and Frankie at Coles Point Tavern - Our first night was a little slow but had a nice bunch of folks that stayed with us for the evening.
October 13th, NorthStar AT Coles Point Tavern - Eddie made it in about 15 minutes after we starteD. We had a spot ready for him and then the game was on. What a fantastic night! A big crowd, we played well. Everything was perfect!
October 14th, NorthStar at Coles Point Marina - We played Creeky's "One More Time" party. It's an annual event to raise money for the Fire Department. We are so proud to be a part of this event and hope to be there next for the next one!
October 14th, Bob Margolin and NorthStar at Coles Point Tavern - We opened up for the great Bob Margolin. It was a nice show. We had to work out a few bugs but made it through. Frankie and I backed up Bob Margolin. Then after a few tunes Eddie joined us on guitar for the rest of the show. Bob is a true pro and one of the nicest guys you will meet in the business. I worked for him in the early 80's and am proud to call him my friend. It is a real honor to back-up this great entertainer! Man what a night!
October 15th, Travel Day - We made it home about 7 pm. It wasn't a bad trip back, but ran into some traffic in South Carolina and a little in Georgia but overall a pretty uneventful return drive.
It's good to be home, but what a great time I had. Thanks Chris and Ann, Matt, Randy, Mike and Sandra, Creeky and Joel. We could not make these trips without your help. You guys are the best! Also thanks to Eddie and Frankie I'm so proud to play with my NorthStar band mates! And I can't say enough about my friend Bob Margolin. What an honor. I hope we can do this again. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someone's day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! September 27th, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - I had a nice evening out on the sidewalk. It was nice to hang out with Brian from Aunt Kate's. This is a nice place to play, good people to work for. Thanks Abe, JJ and staff.
September 28th, DAVE at Corner Bar - It was the trio of Brady and Frankie and I tonight. There's never a dull moment with these two. September 29th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - This is the first of 3 nights. The weather is going to be real crazy I hope I can get all the gigs in. So far so good!
September 30th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - I was not so lucky this afternoon. The weather was nasty so we decided to cancel. Theresa and I drove down to the Lohman Auditorium. We were guest of Bob Paterson to see the Gove Scrivnor show. Mike Lagasse and Todd Jones opened. It was a good set. I had to a chance to say hey to Gove. He is going to help me get into the Frank Brown Festival. Gove sounded great. It was good to see Jim Carick and Paul Linser. The weather was awful so we cut out quick. Thanks Bob, see you for our next songwriters night on October 16th.
October 1st, Aunt Kate's - The weather is still bad. I was able to get most of a gig in. I had the chance to meet a nice player from Key Largo, Kenny Channels. He got up and played a few tunes. He sounded real nice.
October 3rd, DAVE at Chianti Room - My friend Cecil is in town. My brother Will and his friend Frank showed up to see him and hang out. It's been a crazy month and it's almost over. Hurricane Irma made quite the punch. We were very lucky. We lost power for several days, a few large trees came down and lots and lots of clean up. My heart goes out for the folks that suffered much more than we did. Theresa and I would like to thank Julie, the Bagan's and our neighbor Jen for everything you did to make life a little better. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it might brighten someone's day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! Keep'in It Real! -David

August 28th - OFF
August 29th, DAVE at the Chianti Room - It was a nice afternoon out on the porch. I had a little trouble with my guitar pickups. I did a quick fix that actually worked. That rarely happens with me and my fix-its. I took it to Scott Sweet the next day and he said it was fine. Every dog has his day, I guess that repair was my lucky day, Ruff! Ruff!
August 30th, Travel Day - We were on the road by 1pm, right on time with everything going smoothly so far. It was a nice trip to Virginia. We made it in about 11 1/2 hours. I got a little tired after getting off 295 in Virginia, but recovered in about 20 minutes. I drove the whole way. I suffered a little the next day but at least Theresa could rest a little. She still had to drive to see her family on Friday.
August 31st - September 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th - My weekend to play the Coles Point Tavern is always a good time. There are some great people that hang there. I really enjoy their company. I saw my first coyote and a grey fox on one of my morning walks, also several eagles. The five gigs I played went great. I can't wait to get back in October. I would like to thank Matt, Randy, Mike and Sandra and Steve and Selisa (or breakfast), my Dad, Cecil, Ed, Uncle Charley and Debbie, Creeky, Richard and Barb, Joel and Cindy, and most of all Chris and Ann. Thanks for letting me play and thanks for taking such good care of us. I enjoyed hanging out for a little bit after the weekend. I look forward to our next trip your way. God Bless the Tavern Nation!
September 5th, Travel Day - We started home around 3am. We arrived home about 2:30 pm. It was a pleasant trip after we getting a little turned around in Montrose but that always happens at three in the morning. It's good to be home!
A great trip to Virginia as always. We are worried about Hurricane Irma. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Early detection can save your life! Smile it could brighten someone's day, even your own! Check out my video's on YouTube and listen to my music on Spotify! Keepin' It Real! -David

August 14th, NORTHSTAR at Creekside - We decided to set up inside because the weather looked threatening. It never rained, go figure. We still had a nice crowd. Frankie was still a little under the weather so he was unable to make the gig. We missed him! Eddie, Brady and myself carried the torch. We also had a little help from Dr. Bill on Mandolin. He sounded great. Thanks for supporting NorthStar's music! We also had a visit from Steve Beck!
August 15th, DAVE at Chianti Room - Hot! Hot! Hot! I survived and actually met some nice folks. Come check out the best happy hour in town!
August 16th, DAVE at Cave Canem Studios - I met with Barry. He has been real busy with .38 Special so we haven't had a chance to get together. It was nice to catch up on current events and work a little on "Poor-Dum". Due to Barry's schedule we will probably really buckle down in November and December. I'm sure there will be a few dates in between.
August 16th, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - A nice evening out on the porch. There wasn't any rain for a change. Thanks Abe, JJ and staff, you guys are the best.
August 17th, DAVE at Corner Bar - The Trio of Besley, Green and Urzetta was back together this evening. I am really stating to like the sound we are getting. I am very lucky to share the stage with these two!
August 18th, DAVE at Conch House - It wasn't as hot as last month, actually, it was a pretty nice evening. I saw my friend Woody Pernell for a second. He was playing out on the pier. I am cutting back on the number of times I am playing the Conch House. It's not because I don't like it, I just have to many other commitments. See you September 22nd!
August 19th, DAVE at Zaharia's - It was a wonderful evening. It was good to see Greg and Lisa and all my other friends that showed up. Angelika and staff are the best. We stopped by Julie's on the way home for a couple of beers and a jump in the pool. We never got in the pool. Theresa and I hung around a bit to talk with with Jack and Julie for a while and then headed home.
August 20th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - It was a nice afternoon on the porch. I had a nice crowd and a special person in the crowd, Tony Scozzaro. What a nice guy. He's a great player too. Also had the chance to hang out a bit with Chip Kirk and Tom Burns. They played the early shift.
I had a wonderful week. It was hot though! It was fun un to hang out with Barry. I'm looking forward to getting together with Dan Bagan at IAUGI Studios to work on the next video. August 19th, DAVE at Zaharia's - It was a wonderful evening. It was good to see Greg and Lisa and all my other friends that showed up. Angelika and staff are the best. August 1st, DAVE at the Chianti Room - A good start to the week. My Dad and Margie stopped by. They are leaving tomorrow. I played my Dad's three favorite songs Merle Haggard's "Are The Good Times Really Over", one I wrote called "Mr. Song" and Change The World that George Reeves, Kat Korac and I wrote. It was a hot enjoyable experience out on the porch.
August 2nd, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - The rain was coming so I set up outside under cover. It rained hard for a little bit and kind of misted on and off for the evening. It was a good call to set up under cover.
August 3rd, DAVE at the Corner Bar - It was Brady Green and I tonight. Frankie is still recovering from his surgery that went well. He says he will be back next week. The place was packed. I really enjoyed the evening. John Shubert was in the house from Subert and Green, Z Band. It was nice to hang out with my old friend for a while.
August 4th,5th and 6th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Friday everything went well, nice crowd until 8:30 and then a hell of a storm blew in. Luckily a customer brought the approaching storm to my attention and I had the chance to get everything moved inside before it hit. I saw some of the most intense lighting on the drive home. Saturday afternoon went good out on the deck by the water. Sunday evening was a lot of fun. I met Uncle Charley, he's a harmonica player. Thanks Brian, Candy, Dave and staff, you guys are the best!

August 10th, DAVE at Corner Bar - Frankie is still recovering from his surgery. He plans to be at Creekside on Monday with NorthStar. Tonight it was Brady and I. We had a good time. It was a little slow but we gave the audience a good show. Thanks everyone for supporting our music. See you next Thursday!
August 11th, 12th and 13th, DAVE at The Big Deck - Another great weekend! Bryan was out of town. We missed him, the christmas shot was just not the same without you. Darlene was in town this month. It was good to play some of my songs for her. We saw Pete just for a few minutes. He wasn't feeling well. I played all of Pat's favorites. I would also like to thank Paulie for sitting in with me singing "Knocking on Heaven's Door". Paulie said he remembers when Chris and I were writing "Dance With Me. He was singing back-up. He said he'll never forget that night. I played the song for him. See you guys in September!

July 25th, Travel Day - Since the first time I played my Dads Hagstrom guitar when I was about 12 or 13 years old, I started to write music. It wasn't the "in" thing to do. The rest of the guys wanted to learn the songs we were listening to on the radio. I was always drawn to writing my own. I'd sit alone or in the corner of a house party and play my songs. Fifty years later, I'm headed to Canada for the same reason. I want folks to hear my music. I partnered up with my friend Laurence Stevenson. We visited and played some of the most respected original venues in Toronto. We played three gigs in Toronto, one in Cobourg and one in Brighton. There could have been more people, we could have done things different, but that's for the next tour. To the people that were there to heard us, I hope you were entertained. I can't tell you how much I appreciated you all being there. It was nice to hang out with Shawna Caspi for a few days. She is a real talent, and a nice person to boot. That's a good combo, I'm sure she will reach whatever goal she sets! Laurence and Barbara, you were great hosts, you are two of the nicest folks I have ever had the pleasure to know.
July 26th, Dora's - What a great place. It was even better when we worked out the sound system they had. Mostly Laurence's friends and family plus the agent that booked us, Andrei Talbot. Everyone was real nice. There was not a large crowd, but you have to expect that when nobody knows you. Some folks that came down: Kevin Marsh (radio guy) - Jim Rootham (knew the words to all the Gamble Rogers tunes) and Sandra Spencer (played a Hurdy-Gurdy). Also in the audience was Laurence and Barbara's daughter Moira and son-in-law Steve. With the first night under our belts, we looked forward to the rest of the tour!
July 27th, C'est What - It was a nice place. Laurence and I were walking around in circles trying to find the stage. One of the owners Brenda Atkinson was sitting at the bar. She noticed our plight and was nice enough to lead us there. We met Miles Lacroix (his DJ name Miles The Man).
He would also be the guy who booked us and was the sound man. He did a great job! Other notables were Jim Bailey, Richard Begley and Michael Fich. We took some great pictures before the gig. Thanks for showing us around Laurence.
July 28th, The Loft - We left Toronto for the first time since we arrived in Canada to head to Brighton today. We stopped at Tim Horton's (Timmy's) to get a couple double doubles and a box of tim bits for the drive. This is a "must" when in Canada. We also made a pit stop at the Big Apple.
It's on our turn off to Laurence and Barbara's. It's a pretty nifty place. We decided we would try to get back and try their apple sausage the next day. We met Lucy the Lama. We hung at Laurence and Barbara's for the afternoon, then headed to the gig. Laurence wanted us to try Sakura Sushi, place in Cobourg that turned out to be great! We were joined by Shawna Caspi who would be playing with us for the next three days. The gig at The Loft was great. There were a few folks that showed up that had seen me in the states. Ken Drue, as always, was a great host. John Tapscott did a great job with the sound. We missed Steafan Hannigan. He was in Europe touring himself. Also Perry Lictenberger and Paul Devlin were in the house. We missed Joyce.
July 29th, 78 On Main - This is one of my favorite places. Lori Dunn was nice enough to book us back. Shawna Caspi did a short set. We wanted Lori to hear her perform. It was a nice afternoon and we met a lot of nice folks. We also had a nice dinner. We headed back to Laurence and Barbara's for the rest of the evening to sit by Lake Ontario with a bonfire. It was a special night, with some special people, Barbara, Laurence, Shawna and Theresa.
July 30th, The Free Times Cafe - We hung around Laurence and Barbara's for the afternoon. Barbara, Theresa, Shawna and I, all went for a swim in Lake Ontario at different times. Man, it was cold.
We packed then headed to Toronto to return the rental car and check into our room at the Crown Plaza. Laurence and Barbara picked us up and we headed for the show. A well known venue for the Canadian folk circuit. All the best known performers have spent time on this stage. Shawna and I shared the stage for this night trading songs. It was a blast. Just a few people but still had fun.
July 31st, Home Sweet Home - We cleared customs, then had a direct flight home on Air Canada. We were home by 3:30pm and decided to meet my Dad and Margie for dinner at Ned's. It was a great way to end our trip. It's good to be home.
I had a great time in the North Country. Laurence and Barbara were great hosts. It was nice to hang with Shawna. She's very talented. I think next time I would like to spend more time in Laurence's neck of the woods. Toronto is cool, but I really enjoyed playing for the folks outside the city. I guess I'm not such a big city guy. Thanks Canada and everyone I met along the way (EXCEPT FOR EZ RENT-A- CAR, don't use them). I hope you enjoyed by music. See you next year!

June 20th, DAVE at the Chianti Room - It was a nice hot afternoon out on the porch. You should come by to check out the best happy hour in town!
June 21st, Travel Day - We left about 12 pm. Our first stop was Sun City SC to have an early dinner with Margie. After a wonderful lunch and some laughs, we got back on the road. This trip we let our GPS guide us and actually made real good time. We arrived at The Reeves' at about 11pm. We unpacked the car and headed to bed. We will see George and Deborah for morning coffee.
June 22nd, DAVE and George at JJ's Canteen and Eatery - What a special place. You don't find many places around like it. It's a gas station, a convenience store, a restaurant and music venue, all in one, on the side on a mountain. George and I had a nice crowd and we had a good time. I met Randy Lanier who sat in with us on percussion. We are looking forward to the Songwriters Night on Saturday at this same venue. We also had a visit from Debbie James. That was a surprise! Thanks Joel and staff! Earlier in the day, George and I met in his studio before we had lunch. I showed him a tune I was working on. We threw a couple of ideas around and left it at that.
June 23rd, DAVE and George at Mica's - This was my first time here. An outdoor restaurant, bar and music venue. They do it all around here! We had a great night until the rain came. We tried to move our stuff forward to keep playing but the rain started blowing in sideways. George and I met in his studio in the afternoon continued on with our ideas got a verse or two, an idea for a chorus and maybe a bridge. I don't know if it's going to be a song before Theresa and I head home, but it's a good start.
June 24th, Songwriters Night at JJ's Canteen and Eatery - I met with George in the afternoon, we got the arrangement together I think we have all the lyrics for the verses and chorus. I think we did it again. "The Ink Has Dried" is born. We were to tiered to go any further had to rest for the gig tonight. If we have enough energy we will lay a ruff track of the song down tonight when we get back. We got back and recorded the song thanks George another on bites the dust! This was the first time they ever had an event like this at JJ's. It went great. We had a nice crowd. Tina Eno and Jon Zachary joined George and I. We played our music for the folks for two hours. It was a great success. We talked with Joel about doing the same thing again in October. Thanks again Joel and staff!
June 25th, Travel Day - We left about 6:30 am like thieves in the night. As soon as we got off the mountain we put in a CD and listened to the new Besley/Reeves song "The Ink Has Dried". The trip back was uneventful and drove straight thru. We arrived home at about 3:30 pm. We had a great time, but it's good to be home.
It was a wonderful trip, good music, great food, good friends, mew song, talks about life and rain, it was a good time had by all. George and Deborah were great hosts as always. Deborah fed us, as always, some of the best food you'll ever eat. We return sometime in October. I will be counting the days for this trip. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Early detection can save your life!

June 12th, NORTHSTAR at Creekside - I talked to Judy earlier in the day and we decided to make NorthStar a go. It was raining like crazy so we set up inside. It was a pretty light evening as far as and audience goes but we still had a good time. I think the folks that showed up saw a good show. Brady, Eddie and Frankie played their butts off. As much of a pain as it was to get the gig going it was all worth it to play with this bunch!
June 13th, DAVE at Oasis - I had a nice night in the land of the 44 TVs! Nasty weather but didn't stop folks from coming out. It was good to catch up with the current events of my friend Jay Mayville.
June 14th, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - Another rainy evening, what's new? Decided to set up even though it looked like it was going to rain buckets. Turned out to be a pretty good night the rain held off for the most part. Thanks Abe, JJ and staff you guys are the best!
June 15th, DAVE at Corner Bar - Brady and Frankie shared the stage with me tonight. It's always a blast to play with these two. I will be out of town next week. I'm heading up to North Carolina to play and hang with the Reeves', can't wait. See you guys at the Corner Bar in two weeks!
June 16th DAVE at - Conch House - The rain held off, I had a nice time out on the deck. I saw a bunch of friends I haven't seen for a while. I had a chance to chat with Don Oja-Dunaway and talked to Woody Pernell for a few minutes. He was playing with his band out at the pier bar. See you guys next month. Thanks Julie!
June 17th, DAVE at Zaharias - This gig is always a good time. Angelika and staff are the best! Come check it out. I will be back July 15th.
June 18th, Aunt Kate's - I had a nice afternoon out on the porch. Brian, Dave and staff are the best! I heard Candy is doing good and will be back to work soon. That is good news!
June 19th, Corner Bar - I had a great writers night! Ellen and Michelle sounded wonderful. I am always so proud to be a part of the so many special writers nights we've had over the last two years. It never gets old. There's always something new. Thanks Bob for being there by my side these past two years. We had some other artists show up Cindy Bear and Uncle Eddie and Robin.
It's been another busy but enjoyable week. I'm looking forward to Cashies N.C. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten up someone's day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! Check out my videos on YouTube "Change The World" and "Living In My Head". May 22nd and 23rd - OFF
May 24th - Travel Day to the Northern Neck of Virginia for Memorial Day Weekend. It was a long nasty trip. It rained most of the way. I drove almost the entire trip. Theresa took over at exit 9 on 295 in Virginia. She took us in and did a great job driving in the rain on those country roads. We left home about 11 am, had a stop in Orange Park (nightmare in the rain), then arrived in the NN at 1:30am. We were glad to get out of that car and call an end to that drive. It was good to be in the Northern Neck though!
May 25th, NorthStar at Coles Point Tavern - The rain held off for my morning walk. Theresa and I had some coffee with Chris and Ann, then headed down for the load in. What a great first night! Ed sounded great. We had a great crowd and the weather stayed nice. Great times with the Tavern Nation! I sang "To Love Somebody" for Creeky. Not Frankie, but it was the thought that counts. Thanks for the ride home Joel!
May 26th , DAVE at Coles Point Tavern - My father and Margie came out to see me. Also Harold Wiggins, a friend I went to school with. He was in chemistry class with me and Jim Miner at old Fairfax High School. There was a great crowd. Later Ed, Randy Scott and Rick of the group Ethyl played in the back room. They sounded great. Thanks for the ride home Joel!
May 27th, DAVE at Coles Point Tavern - It was a great Saturday playing to a full house. Beth Grant, a friend from Fairfax High School showed up to hear me play. I had a blast, day three went great! Thanks for the ride home George!
May 28th, Northstar at Coles Point Tavern - Thank God Theresa is back! I had a fun time playing with brother Ed as always. The cookout at the Rowzee's was awesome. It was good to see Donna and Bill. When I finally got to the gig, I was surprised to see Vickie and Tom Barringer. It was nice to get caught up on some of our old friends and hang out. Thanks for the ride home Theresa!
May 29th, DAVE at Coles Point Tavern - It was the last day and I'm good and sick. It still has been a blast. I can't wait to get back in September. Fred Stapleton and Bruce Looney showed up. It was good to see them. It turned out to be a great afternoon and I always look forward to hanging out a bit after loading the gear. We played a little Keno and chatted with everyone that hung around!
May 30th, Travel Day - Theresa drove through one hell of a rain storm, but with Brianna and Braylen leading the way, we made it through. What a week, it was good to get home!
It's always nice to hang out with my friends in the Northern Neck. Thanks Chris, Ann, Mike and Sandy, Randy, Joel, Richard, Barb and all the other great folks to many to name. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! May 5th and 6th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - I played in the wind. I had to choose to set up inside or outside. There were a few people outside so I headed into the wind. I figured as long as the customers could eat and drink out there, I could surely perform. I'm surprised my speakers didn't blow down. I made it through somehow.
May 7th, DAVE at The Gamble Rodger's Music Festival - Brady, Laurence and I met a little early and headed for the festival grounds so that we had a chance to hang out a bit. We had a chance to catch up with other musicians we haven't seen in a while, and also met some new ones. Our show was one of the best I've played yet. Great job Brady and Laurence (this is really Laurence's last gig in town, I swear). Thanks Bob Paterson and everyone else involved with this great event!
May 7th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Back for my last evening this weekend. The weather couldn't have been better. There was a world of difference. Great crowd, great time! Thanks Brian, Dave and staff, you guys are the best!
I'm getting together with Dan Bagan at IAUGI Studios. We're going to get started on our next project, "Goodbye, Goodbye", a new video. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someone's day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! April 10th, NORTHSTAR at Creekside - It was the whole gang tonight, Brother Ed, Brady, George, Frankie, Laurence and I. It's a pain in the ass for me to set up sound for this many players. Even with all the headaches, it's more than worth it. This is a chance each month to hang out and play with some of my favorite players. George and Laurence will be headed back to their homes. As I'm typing, I realize it will be their last NorthStar gig for a while. You both will be missed. Brady, Eddie, Frankie and I will hold down the fort until you return. Thanks Creekside for allowing us to get together each month!
April 11th, DAVE at Oasis - All is well in the land of the 44 TVs. I miss Greg and Splash though.
April 12th, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - Laurence Stevenson joined in with me tonight. We had a nice crowd. Beautiful evening on the sidewalk. Thanks Abe, JJ and staff, see you next week!
April 13th, DAVE at Corner Bar - It was a trio tonight, George Reeves and Laurence Stevenson and I. Brady was out of town. We had a great crowd and were visited by Duffy and ? from the Duffy Bishop Band. This was George's last Thursday night for a while. If you missed him he will be playing a set with Laurence and I on Wednesday at Hurricane Grill and Wings. Lets give him a good send off!
April 14th , 15th and 16th, DAVE at the Big Deck Raw Bar - It's always a great time at this special venue. This is a gig I always look forward to. Bryan and Darlene and Darlene's Mother made us a great Shepard's Pie before leaving for the gig. I had nice crowds each day. It's good to see my friends Pete and Pat on a monthly basis. It was good to see my friends from "Museum of Oddities" (Bruce and John). I'm looking forward to next month already.
I hope to get some movement on my new Video and CD. I've been very bust this month. I'm over halfway through a 23 day run and feeling good. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Early detection can save your life! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Try to enjoy each day, your not guaranteed tomorrow! April 3rd, DAVE at JT's Seafood Shack - What a great evening until the rain came. It was one hell of a ride home. Thanks everyone at JT's you are the best. See you next month on May 1st.
April 4th, DAVE at Chianti Room - It was a nasty looking day, cloudy and rain. I looked towards downtown on my way to the gig and the sky was as blue as can be. I had a wonderful afternoon out on the porch.
April 5th, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - Laurence and his fiddle showed up to play with me this evening on the sidewalk. I always look forward to my Wednesdays. Great job as always Laurence!
April 6th, DAVE at Corner Bar - George Reeves, Brady Green and Laurence Stevenson all shared the stage with me tonight. It's always a pleasure to play with these guys. I am sure going to miss George and Laurence when they head back home. I along with Brady will try to keep the fires burning until they return.
April 7th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - It is the first of three gigs in a row. It was windy and chilly but I set up outside anyway. I figured if the folks were out there eating I sure could be playing. I'm glad I did. It got a little cold near the end but was a wonderful evening overall.
April 8th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Laurence Stevenson was with me this afternoon out on the porch. A beautiful afternoon!
April 9th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - A nice breeze, a deck full of people, some great food, a beer or three makes for yet another great gig! Thanks for sitting in Lindsey Lynink you have a wonderful voice! Thanks Brian, Candy, Dave and staff, you guys are the best!
We've been doing a lot of work around the house. Theresa says she's happy, that makes me happy. It's been a great week, 14 more gigs to go before a break, and I feel fine. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! March 20th, Songwriters Night at Corner Bar - We had a special guest Shawna Caspi from Canada. A real pleasure listening to her performance. Hopefully we will be getting together in her country when I'm up her way in July. Amy Hendrickson was under the weather so George Reeves stepped in and did a fine job. Amy we hope you feel better! Bob sounded great as always! I can't wait until next month, April 17th.
March 21st, Travel Day - Theresa and I started out about 4 am Tuesday morning. We are headed for the Astor Crown Plaza in New Orleans. Barry, Darlene and Eddie have all given us tips on where to eat. We didn't get to all of them. The drive was uneventful. We arrived in New Orleans about 2 pm. I was surprised the city is very easy to get in and out of. After check in, our first stop was Acme Oyster House for oysters and beer. Then we took a walk up Bourbon Street. I wanted to show Theresa all the places I've played and hung out in over the years (Tropical Isle, Toulouse Cabaret). After stopping in Absinthe for a beer we decided to head back to the room, end of day one in Nola.
March 22nd, Travel Day - The next morning started with beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde. Then more site seeing around the town.
We checked out of the hotel about 11am and I stopped at Central Grocery for Muffalettas while Theresa walked around the French Market. Now we're off to Houston, Texas. The drive went fine until we were about 30 miles out. One wrong turn in the middle of rush hour and all hell broke loose! Adam and Katie had cooked dinner for us and I was starting to think we might need to stop at the nearest bar and wait for the rush hour to end. Thank God my co-pilot kept us going. We made it about 7pm. We had a wonderful Mexican style dinner, a few drinks, then off to bed.
March 23rd, DAVE at Locatelli's/Magnolia - My first night playing, there was a nice crowd. Adam and Katie had us try some of amazing food from their menu. The room was pretty full and a nice couple sat down next to Adam and Katie. He looked like a player about my age. I pretty much did the same show I do every night in St. Augustine, just played to a bunch of folks that have never heard me. The couple asked if I did any originals and I said the last few were mine. He said "sounds a lot like Cat Stevens". I said I was a big fan of his. He said he was a bass player. I said I was to. He said he had a precision bass. I said I had one also. He asked if I knew any Spirit songs. I said I've played a few over the years, but did not know any at the moment. I then introduced him to Adam and Katie, and said "if you ever need a gig just talk to them, they are the owners". He said he pretty much was a studio player now. At that point I started feeling like he was having some fun with me. When he left he introduced himself and said he would like to keep in touch. Mark Andes was his name. Look him upon wikipedia. This player has done it all, and is one of Barry's all time favorites. Barry is one of my all time favorites. I was stunned and still am. It was a great start for the weekend.
March 24th, DAVE at Locatelli's/Cypress - This was one of their newest restaurants, the place was packed. I met some great folks, and once again we had some great food. Day two was under our belts and a lot of fun!
March 25th, DAVE at Locatelli's/Cypress - After a walk and a few minutes by the pool we headed down the street to day 3's gig. This is the original Locatelli's. I played here about 11 years ago for their 3rd anniversary party. I remember this one and had some friends from my old days in Virginia show up. A great crowd and once again some great food. Adam and Katie could not have been better hosts. I'm so happy we had a chance to hang with them and see how their hard work has payed off.
March 26th, DAVE at Locatelli's/Tombell - The last gig was an afternoon performance. I had a nice bunch of folks show up. Another nice meal. Theresa and I are going on a diet when we get home. Adam and Katie wanted to take us out to one of their favorite places in Houston for dinner, Cyclone Anaya's. Also a place Billy Gibbons likes a lot. This was a great way to end a great long weekend! It's time to get back to the house and get some rest for the ride home tomorrow.
March 27th - After talking with Adam and Katie, we decided we would drive to Destin and stay the night. They also suggested The Harbor Dock as the place to eat. The drive was a little longer than we counted on but uneventful. The restaurant was great, we had sushi and shared grouper sandwich. I have learned something about eating on this trip. It's kind of fun to share. After a late lunch we rode down to the beach. They are beautiful. We weren't really tired and the GPS said 5 1/2 hours to home, but it was more like 8 1/2. So we decided it would be nice to sleep in our own bed tonight. We made it back home about midnight. Hauled our luggage in the house and went to bed. What a great road trip can't wait to get back to Houston in September.
March 28th - Day Off
March 29th, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - It's great to be back home! I did this one solo. Laurence and George were out of town. It was good to see everyone and looking forward to a busy month around town.
March 30th, DAVE at Corner Bar - The whole gang was here. I missed playing with my friends. The place was packed had a blast! Now 2 days off and then 22 in a row. See you out there somewhere!
March 31st and April 1st - Off
April 2nd , DAVE at Aunt Kate's - It was a beautiful day. I made it to the gig with a chance to hang with my friend Michael Howard. He was playing the early shift and sounded great. I had a great afternoon on the porch by the water. It was really good to see Dan and Mary Kane!

March 6th, DAVE at JT's Seafood Shack - The first time in a long time for me at this great place. They've really made some changes. The food was always great, still is. I had a great time. I talked to Johnny about moving the singles a little closer to the bar. What ever he decides, I am glad to be playing at this venue. I'll see you April 3rd, same time, same station.
March 7th, George's House - We threw around a couple of ideas on our new Cival War song.
March 7th, DAVE at Chianti Room - A nice afternoon out on the porch. There was a full house. I wasn't feeling very well but the crowd brought me out of it. Happy Birthday Dede! A big thanks to the wonderful people and staff here at the Chianti Room. See you in a few weeks.
March 8th, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - George showed up to play with me tonight. Laurence was back home in Canada for a week. We had a blast, as always, and did all the songs we have written together except "Secondary Dominance". What fun!!!
March 9th, DAVE at Corner Bar - It was George and I tonight. Laurence is still in Canada and Brady stayed home sick. Between the two of us we got'er done. Enjoyed the evening!
March 10th, 11th and 12th, DAVE ar The Big Deck Raw Bar - It's always a great feeling headed for the Gulf Coast. We stopped to pick up some fresh eggs and grabbed some lunch and in about three hours we made it. The weather was great the whole weekend. Visited with Pat, Pete, Missy and her sisters, Trainwreck John and Rick McMurray from "Yoko Says No". What a great mix of folks to hang out with. As always Darlene, Bryan and staff were the best! We are looking forward to our trip back in April 14th, 15th and 16th. Come check out this great venue and pretty little town out. It's a nice time.
I'm looking forward to getting together with Barry on Wednesday at Cave Canem Studios and doing some writing with George and who ever shows upon our Tuesday Writing Day! March 1st, Cave Canem Studios - Laurence was in cutting tracks on "Poor-dum" and "A Better place". It's lots of fun recording and hanging with Barry and Laurence.
March 1st, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - The "fiddler" was out on the sidewalk with me tonight. Great crowd! Great time! Thanks Abe, JJ and staff!
March 2nd, DAVE at Corner Bar - The whole crew was here with me tonight, Brady, George and Laurence. I'm a lucky guy to be able to share the stage with these three guys.
March 3rd, 4th and 5th - Aunt Kate's - I had a great weekend on the porch by the water. Friday night I played for a private event. It was a wedding rehearsal, pretty uneventful but I think they had a good time. Saturday was the 13th Annual Bob Conroy Charity Tournament. I have been lucky to book myself the same time as this event for the last couple years. Sunday just a fun day!
I'm going to put a call into Barry to see if he's in town this week to get into Cave Canem Studios. I know Dan's been busy, but we hope to get moving on "Goodbye Goodbye", our next video at IAUGI Studios. I'm also going to stop by George's to see if we can move farther along on our new Civil War tune as yet, un-named. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Early detection can save your life! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Keepin' It Real! -David
