George and I finished up a couple of tunes we have been working on "Do I Ever Cross You Mind" (Besley/C.Caudill/Reeves) and "The Ink Has Dried" (Besley/Reeves). It's always an inspiration to enter George's music room. We have made some good music in at room. All the gigs were great, Everyone was so nice, as always. August 29th, Virginia Trip - As was the plan, we spent the night in Fayetteville NC. After many years of driving straight through to this gig, we enjoy breaking the drive up. We had a nice dinner next door and a good nights sleep.

August 30th, Coles Point Tavern / Day 1- After a 6am breakfast we hit the road again. We stopped at the Food Lion in Warsaw for a couple of provisions on the way in. We arrived at the Tavern about 11:30am and started the load in. Randy showed up with the mains and we did a sound check and were done by 12:30. Theresa had headed farther north to see her sister and mom up in NoVa. Randy will be my ride until Theresa gets back up here. I'll be staying at  Chris and Ann's for the long weekend. I had one of the best grilled chicken salads ever for dinner, and the night turned out great, one of the best Thursday's yet for me.  It dosen't get much better than this! My friends Cecil and Richard showed up.

August 31st, Coles Point Tavern / Day 2 - I finished my book today. I'm glad I brought three.  I'll have a bunch to give Marcia when I get back. The gig was good, all the usual suspects are showing up now. I had a nice time. I played "To Love Somebody" for Creeky out on the deck on my way back to Chris and Ann's. Cecil and Richard showed up again.

September 1st, Coles Point Tavern / Day 3 - Another relaxing day on The Rivah. Second day, second morning walk. Napped and read the day away.  Randy picked me up about 5:30 to head over to the gig. This night I had a nice Steak and Cheese salad and another nice gig. Donna Britten showed up and sang a song with me "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You". She sounded wonderful. She and I also sang 'To Love Somebody" for Creeky at the end of the gig out on the deck. Donna will be playing in Pensacola for a songwriters festival in October.  She'll be doing a special tribute to our friend CJ Watson, a great songwriter friend who recently passed away. I had a couple beers with Chris and Josh at the house after the gig. Cecil, Richard and Bruce showed up!

September 2nd, Coles Point Tavern / Day 4 - Another relaxing day on The Rivah. The weather has been hot and clear perfect for being on the water. I took my morning walk then met Randy and we had breakfast with the Rowsee clan at Salisa and Steve's. It was great. Read and relaxed after that great meal. July 25th, Canada - Theresa and I had a nice trip up to the Great White North! A direct flight is the way to go! Air Canada, but not the window seat. We had a quick bite at Chili's at the airport after we made it to our gate. We arrived at the Pearson Airport about 4pm and we were in our room by 5pm. We had a nice dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. We tried an Indian dish for the first time called Butter Chicken.  It was not at all what we expected but good, we'd get it again.

July 26th, The Stevenson's - After a nice relaxing evening at our hotel and breakfast the next morning,  Laurance picked us up and took us back to his place in Brighton. It was good to see Barbara, Alice and Bill.  Bill Mullen also joined us for this mini road trip. They came from Massachusetts, and had just arrived when we did.  Our first gig was at the Church-Key Pub and Grindhouse, a small bar in Campbellford, it was a good warm up gig. Laurence and Bill sounded great!

July 27th, DAVE at Arthur's Pub in  Cobourg -  I had a nice breakfast and a morning walk on the shore of Lake Ontario.  For lunch we went to The Harbor Veiw Resturant. This was where we had our first Canadian gig for 4 years ago. That was the year George and Deborah made the trip with us and it was George, Laurence and I. We usually have a meal there very time we make it back. The gig that night at Arthur's turned out great! We had some friends, Perry and Joyce (Urban Angel), Adam and Chris (Mad Man's Window) and Jan a radio DJ were among the many in the crowd.

July 28th, DAVE at Victoria Park Bandshell - Cobourg - The weather did not agree with the event. Should have been a better crowd but still enjoyed playing for Beyond the Box Benefit. We had some time to see Joyce and Perry perform at Kelly's Homelike Inn and also to check out a little of the town of Cobourg. I also got to see Mad Man's Window, I wish the sound was better. Turned out to be a nice day.

July 29th, The Big Apple - Bill and Alice took us to breakfest at one of our favorite places. I had chicken and ribs though. We saw Lucy the Lama and had a nice time talking over the events of the days we'd all spent together. We said our goodbyes to Bill and Alice and then Barbara when Laurence shuttled us back to Toronto. We had dinner at a restaurant across the parkiing lot of the hotel. It was a wonderful buffet place. Theresa normally dosen't like these kind of places, I think she liked this one. We've had a great time.

July 30th, Homeward bound - This trip and our first trip with George and Deborah were two of the best. I can't wait to see what next year brings!

It's hard to remember all the great things that happened on our trip north. Laurence and Barbara were great hosts as always. Bill and Alice were two wondeful people. Looking forward to seeing everyone in St. Augustine. This year is going to be a hoot with everyone. All the folks in Canada were wonderful. Thanks again to Bill Mullen and Laurence Stevenson you guys are the best!!!! Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Smile it could brighten someone's day, even your own! Don't liter! Early detection can save your life! Keepin' It Real! -David

June 29th, DAVE at the Milltop - The place looks great, but it's just not the same. Nothing really stays the same anyway. The  Colonial Quarter has bands on weekends that start at 7 pm right in the middle of the 5pm to 8:30pm set. It's a train wreck. The food was good, everyone was nice. June 19th, DAVE at the Chianti Room - Another nice afternoon out on the porch. It seems like parking is getting harder each day downtown. At least I only play there a couple times a month. See you July 3rd!

June 20th, Travel Day - Theresa and I are headed up to George and Deborah's to relax and play a little music. The trip up was okay until we went off the road a bit to try out the new IHOB Burgers. The burgers weren't bad but the time we took getting to the place put us in a bad traffic jam on I26 when we got back on the interstate. With a quick call to George and a move to I20, that added a couple hours onto the trip, including the burger stop, we finally pulled into to George and Deborahs about 11pm (almost 12 hours).

June 21st, DAVE and George at Cork and Barrel - After a good night sleep and a good breakfast,  George and I went into the studio to work on a couple songs of ours, old and new. We ran through "Sweet Rose Of Mine", "The Ink Has Dried" and a new song I started to write with Chuck Caudill "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind". Also a melody George had in his head (yet un-named).  Then after a great lunch and nap we headed down to Cashiers to the Cork and Barrel for their 7th Anniversary Party. We had a blast! Thanks Dick and staff, see you in October!

June 22nd, DAVE and George at The Lazy Hiker - Early in the day, George and I got together and added a new intro to "The Ink Has Dried" and I taped a lead part George is going to work out a harmony to. I also had an idea on some lyrics for George's new tune (yet un-named), I think he liked the ideas, we will see. We also worked out a lead section on our song with Chuck "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind". A new place for us in Franklin, The Lazy Hiker! Everyone was real nice. Kim and Patrick treated us real good. We met some of the local songwriters and a lot of locals. Also we were visited by Dennis Hammond and Debi James. I'm looking forward to playing this venue again.

June 23rd, Songwriters at JJ's - After coffee and our morning chat. George and I headed up to the studio to continue working on our music, Then headed down the Mountain to Glenville and one of my favorite places JJ's. We had Isaiah Breedlove and Dave Stewart with us tonight for our writers event. We had a decent crowd but more than that we had the chance to sit with two very good songwriters. Dave played some nice guitar and has writen some real good music. He runs a writers night in Franklin, maybe George and I can do sometime. Isaiah Breedlove was somewhat younger than the rest of us but had some very special songs. I was really impressed. I am so lucky to be able to share the stage with so many songwriters around this country. George did a great job as always and it was fun to play our new tune "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind", Besley/Caudill/Reeves. It was good to see our Cedar Key friends from Sylva by way of Gainesville, FL. Thanks Joel and staff hope to see you in October!

June 24th, We had a pretty uneventful and safe trip back. I unloaded the car, draged the luggage in and repacked the truck. Man, it's good to be back home, made it in 9 hours with a stop.

We had a great road trip! It's always good to hang out with our friends Deborah and George. It's also nice to play some music for these great folks in this part of the country. We always seem to get some new music out of these trips. I look forward to that. I have a pretty easy week playing wise in St. Augustine this week. Look forward to catching up with everyone. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! Keepin' It Real!!!!!!!-David

(I over him since I saw Poco in the 70's. Don Henley has still got it. I didn't know who was on 2nd drums and keyboards, both sounded great! The horns and strings were great! Steuart Smith stoled the show as far as I'm concerned, not just because he's from Virginia and I know him, over all a great experience and one I will not do again if I can help it. Maybe McCartney

I was so sorry to hear about Monte McGaughey's passing. He was a great guy. I didn't see him that often, but we did run into each other a few times over the years. I will miss him and pray he had a safe trip to heaven! Keepin' It Real! -David
