George already lent his great talent to a few tracks before he headed back to NC.

May 19th, OFF - We're going to put a bed together that TT ordered for the new guest room. Hopefully Brianna will help, she is more patient than I am. April 30th, Carpetbaggers at Bagan and Company Live - What a great night! I really enjoy playing with these great players. Great job Clay Blasser on the  sound and Dan Bagan for always going above and beyond the call of duty. We could not do this without you. Thanks for all the online support everybody!!!!

May 1st, DAVE at Captain Stan''s Smokehouse - Eddie called me and asked if I would play Captain Stan's first night back with music behind the magic fence. I couldn't miss that. It was a great time, always good to hang out with the Captain. See you guys Wednesday at Hurricane Grill and Wings! Here we go!

May 2nd, I mowed the yard, helped Jay with the shed cleaning and pond pump.

May 3rd, Put a new floor in the "thinking room". Yard work.

May 4th, Going to start playing again! I talked to Abe and JJ and I will be at Hurricane Grill and Wings on Wednesday with Brady Green 6pm to 9pm. And solo on Sunday afternoon at Aunt Kate's from 2pm to 5pm. I'm still working on the floor.

May 5th, I worked on the floor, cut a couple of  Palmetto trees back so Jay and I can finish the fence.

May 6th, Carpetbaggers DAVE and Brady at Hurricane Grill and Wings - Sue was in Georgia so Brady and I were the Carpetbaggers tonight. We had a good time, it's going to take awhile to get used to playing 3 hours again. There was a good crowd, a lot of familiar faces. It was good to see everybody. I hope things keep getting better. Thanks Abe and JJ for getting us back to work!

May 7th, Capetbaggers at Bagan and Company Live - It was Frankie, Tony and I tonight. Sue and Wayne were still in Georgia. This is the first time the 3 of us have played together and it was fun. Really enjoyed hang-in' out and playing music with these guys. We should be a whole band next week. Thanks for supporting Carpetbaggers Music!

May 8th, I stopped by Dan's and cleaned up after the show from last night. I'm trying to finish up the work we're doing in the thinking room. I did some reading out in the yard, it was a nice day.

May 9th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Michael Howard called and asked if I could cover him at Aunt Kate's he was a little under the weather, so I did a little yard work and then started taking it easy to get ready for the gig tonight. It was the first night for music back at Aunt Kate's and it was great to get back to playing for me.  It's going to take a few more gigs before my fingers are used to playing for 3 hours, but thats okay. I had a good time, thanks Brian, Dave, Tina and staff you guys are the best!

May 10th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Happy Mothers Day! It looked like rain big time. I had lunch and started to wait it out. Then I talked to the guys down at the bait shop and they said it wasn't going to rain. I made my decision right then. It turned out to be overcast but no rain. It was a nice afternoon! Thanks Brian, Dave, Tina and staff you guys are the best!

May 11th, DAVE at Retrophonics Studio - I'm back in the studio! It's been almost two months and today was my first day back. I intended to go in and just see where we were with all our projects, my two solo projects and The Big Lonesome. When I arrived Jim was ready to go. I got my guitar and lyrics and started laying down tunes. The songs I worked on today were "I'm Back Again" title song for my new solo CD. "The Desert" a song George and I wrote and Braylen named. "Safe Travels" a song I wrote for my brother Will. "This Romance" I wrote this a long time ago when I went up to Virginia with my brother Ed to record at Bob White's studio at his house (DeWhite Band) . Even though Denis Desloge (Dewhite Band) and friends showed up to help we really only got this song started. Years later David Elliot Johnson (drums) cut a track of the song with me but never went any further. Now I'm going to complete it. With the help of the Carpetbaggers (George, Sue, Frankie, Tony and Brady) I will finish my 4th solo CD. I have 3 more songs to lay down "Telephone Lightning a Besley, Reeves, Westcott, tune,"Looking Out My Window" and "Come On Come On" two songs I just wrote. Then I can get everyone in and get this done. Coming this year "I'm Back Again"

March 16th - Canceled my session with Jim DeVito at Retrophonics Studio

March 16th - Songwriter's Night - We decided to go ahead and have it, we moved the tables and chairs further apart and opened the the whole room up. It was Bob Patterson's birthday! Don, JC and Dino did a great job, The crowd was a little smaller than usual but the people who showed up heard a nice show. See you back here on April 20th!

March 17th - We stopped by the Edgewater Inn to see our friends Richard and Barbara that were in town from Coles Point, Virginia.  I'm not sure what is going on as far as gigs, we will keep you posted.

March 18th, Carpetbaggers DAVE, Sue and Brady at Hurricane Grill and Wings - We had a nice night. Everyone is worried about the virus. I'm pretty sure this could be the last gig for awhile. Keeny B and Smokin' Joe stopped by. Joe sat in with us on mandolin, he sounded great. I have not had a chance to hang with Joe, he seems like a good guy. I hope he comes around more often.

March 19th, Bagan and Company Live - I stopped by Dan's to figure out where we're going in the future. Wayne and Dan had been talking about doing some live shows in Dans studio during the country's shut down. I said it sounded like a good idea and would be something we should think about. Well Dan looked at me a little funny and I said "When do you want to start it?" he said "Tonight". I said okay and went home to get ready.

March 19th, Carpetbaggers DAVE and Sue at Bagan and Company Live - Sue, Wayne and Dan and I did our 30 minute show that turned into 1 hour. It was a blast, we had the chance to play some requests and some of our music. Also had a chance to say hi to a lot of folks from around the country. It was a big success so we would like to do this every week until pandemic that is keeping everyone at home slows some. Thanks Dan and Wayne this would not have happened without your push.

March 20th - Yard work, painting, garden and taxes and beach. I am enjoying the day off and trying to do things around the house that I never had time to get to all at once. By the look of Home Depot and Lowe's there are a lot of folks doing the same thing.

March 21st - More yard work, painting, garden and taxes and beach. Starting to have a problem with what day it is. I always know what day it is by where I'm playing my gigs.

March 22nd - More yard work, painting, garden and taxes.  I kept looking in the mailbox and then remembered it was Sunday.

March 23rd, Bagan and Company Live - Met with Dan and Wayne to make plans for our next show. Sue and I will be joined by Frankie and Tony this week. Sonny's Barbecue is going to sponsor our live show. Can't wait to get together with everyone!

March 24th - More yard work, painting, garden, fire pit, taxes and the beach parking is closed. We have another sponsor Lewis and Besley Real Estate (Ron Moyers and Twist Besley) located in Springfield Va.

March 25th - More yard work, painting, garden, taxes and the beach parking is still closed. I have made a couple trips to Winn-Dixie, Home Depot and Lowe's other than that have pretty much stayed home.

March 26th, Bagan and Company Live - I'm going to stop by Dan's and show him some videos Lou and Diane Hager sent me of The North Star Band playing live at an outdoor festival in Myrtle Beach in the late 70's or early 80's. I hope to sent it to our North Star Band page on FB. I will also post it on my site here or on FB.

March 26th, Bagan and company - We did our 2nd live show. The Carpetbaggers were DAVE, Sue, Frankie and Tony. We had a great time! Dan and I are learning a lot  about doing this. He is busting his ass and I am just bitching, it seems like. But we will have this a fine oiled machine before its over. Thanks Wayne Westcott for all your help, we couldn't do it without you. See you next week April 2nd, 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Thanks for supporting The Carpetbaggers.

March 27th - More yard work. I think Jay and I are going to put up a fence.

March 28th - More yard work.

March 29th - More yard work. We have planted several gardens with veggies, greens, herbs and flowers.

March 29th - I went by Dan's to work a little bit on next week's show, some yard work and watered the garden. Also had to replace my wheel barrel, it just wore it out and when I pulled into Dan's I saw my rear tire was losing air so I ran up to Tires Plus.  $430 later I was back out on the road again. I have to hurry up and get home I'm going broke on the road.

March 30th, Bagan and Company - Dan and I talked out some things for this weeks show. We also figured out what we had done last week as far as sponsors and tips.

March 31st - Bagan and Company - Doug Hyde from 88.5 fm is going to help us with some promo for our Bagan and Company LIVE show with The Carpetbaggers.

March 31st - We called the show off.

April 1st - I stopped stopped by Dan's to talk about our decision to cancel and our next move. Yard work. Did a yard video posted it to Facebook, "Christmas In Prison" by John Prine.

April 2nd - Started on a new tune "Outside My Window". And then more yard work.

April 3rd - Yard work.

February 24th, Retrophonic's Studio - I worked with George and Jim on some guitar  and lap steel parts on "Don't Ever Let It Get You Down" for the The Big Lonesome CD and two new songs that George and I wrote for my new solo CD #4 "I'm Back Again".

February 25th - I went by George's this morning and finished up "Telephone Lightning" a song George, Sue and I wrote. Also"The Desert" and song my grandson Braylen named and George and I wrote. Later we went and had dinner with Laurence and Barbara at Playa Chac Mool near the beach. We had a great time, it was nice to catch up with our friends.

February 26th,  Carpetbaggers DAVE, George and Sue at Hurricane Grill and Wings - It was a little rainy out so we set up inside under the tent. I had a blast! We did two new songs George and I wrote, "Telephone Lighting" and "The Desert". Sue helped on one of them and both went over well. Jim DeVito stopped by and dropped off a couple of the mixes for Sue. She will be in Retrophonics Studio in two weeks to cut her parts on six new tunes for my new CD "I'm Back Again".

February 27th, Carpetbaggers DAVE, Sue, George, Tony and Frankie at the Corner Bar - Always a great time on Thursdays. Looking forward to my trip to the west coast!

February 28th thru March 3rd, Orange, California - Jim Grimes took us to the airport. We flew with Delta and everything went great! We arrived at John Wayne Airport on time and didn't have any problems until we went to get our carry on bags that we checked at the gate in Jacksonville. I know what your thinking, they did arrive but could not reach us because the carousel had stopped working. We were delayed about 30 minutes until they figured out how to turn it back on. Beside that, it was a great flight over. After getting our luggage in the car we drove to a mexican restaurant that Lou and Diane liked. We went for a walk in downtown Disneyland that evening.  Lou got busted for trying to hide his pocket knife in the woods, he surrendered it without a fight. I think he said it was his favorite blue one. The last time I was at Disneyland was in the early 70's.
They knew it had been a long day for us, so after Disney we called it, and went back to their place for a nice dinner outside under the pergola in their beautiful back yard and discussed our itinerary that Lou had worked up for the next few days.

The second day I got up early and went with Lou to check out his place of business and the beach closest to his house. When we got back we loaded up the girls and took a ride north to that same beach and then down the coast to Newport Beach. What a wonderful day, we saw some of the coast and took a boat ride seeing all the homes of some of the famous people that lived or once lived on little man made islands.
We also saw some sea lions hangin' out on a marker bouy as we motored a little bit into the Pacific. We had dinner at Ruby's and then went back to Lou and Diane's and watched old video's of The North Star Band and a group Lou played in when he got to California, 30 some years ago.

The 3rd day I got up with Lou for coffee and to look at some videos of everyone we know.
We went to Hollywood later and had In and Out burgers for lunch. I took a picture of us with the sign. We drove all around the area, saw a lot of homeless people everywhere we went it's sad. We saw the Queen Mary, the hills, the valley, the mountains, we went everywhere. Lou cooked us a great steak dinner when we got home. Then we watched "Nacho Libre" with Jack Black.  It was a hoot.

The 4th day I beat Lou to the coffee. This was a great trip I hate for it to end.
We had breakfast at Watson's a famous site, where some of the movie "That Thing You Do!" with Tom Hank was shot. We headed for the airport, said our goodbyes got through security, on the plane to Atlanta then to Jacksonville. Jim Grimes, our friend was waiting for us and took us on home. I hate flying but I would make that trip again in a heartbeat.
Lou and Dave at Laguna Beach
Lou and Diane were the best hosts ever and I wish they weren't so far away because I really enjoy their company. I think we might be back there again in the near future and then on to Hawaii if Theresa gets her way!

I was really worried about the long flight and found out it wasn't all that bad. It was so good to see my ole bandmate Lou and his wife Diane. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten everyone's day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! January 20th, Retrophonics Studio - Jim and I worked on a song I co-wrote with Chris McVey called "Don't Ever Let It Get You Down". I really like how the track is sounding. January 20th, Songwriter's Night  at the Corner Bar - Bob and I had Elaine Mahon and Sharon Goldmam, there was a nice crowd. I really enjoyed the evening, I heard some great songs. Also saw Bill Mullen and Alice.

Thanks Creekside see you tomorrow!

January 26th, Carpetbaggers; DAVE and Sue at Creekside - A little chilly but we set up outside anyway. It turned out to be a pretty good night we played until about 8:30 then it got to cold to play and pretty much everyone in the audience had given up to. We did try a new song "Confederate Lament" written by Besley/Reeves/Oja Dunaway.
