December 2nd, DAVE at Retrophonics Studios - We've got five songs ready to start mixing for the Big Lonesome CD. I am so excited to hear these tracks again. I will finish this project up with the help of Frankie, Sue, Tony and  George. I can't wait for everyone to hear it.

December 4th - Carpetbaggers, Dave, Sue and George at  Hurricane Grill and Wings - It was a cold night so we set up under the tent. I had a blast as always playing with George and Sue.

December 5th, DAVE at Bagan and Company - We worked the final layout for "Don't Stare At The Sun" so it will be out by Christmas! Then next week we will continue work on "Live And A Little Touched" my new release.

December 5th, Carpetbaggers DAVE, George, Frankie and Tony at The Corner Bar -
What a great night! The place was full, it was Jim's (Bunnyman) birthday and he brought three rum cakes (chocolate, pina colada and a new spice flavor). Sue will be back next week, we missed her.

December 6th and 7th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Day 1 was a nice quiet evening. I had a nice time out on the porch it was a beautiful evening by the water. Day 2 turned out to be a nice afternoon on the porch by the water. Stowed my gear and headed to Georgia to play with brother Ed.

December 7th, Carpetbaggers DAVE and ED - Christmas Party- I made it to the gig with only one problem, I couldn't read the address on the mail box and went down the wrong driveway at first. I didn't feel so bad because I think Ed did the same thing. What a nice event, these are great people to play for. I had the chance to sit by the fire at the end of the night for a bit. Tell a few cuban tree frog stories and listened to a few good ones in return. The ride home was a little long, but made it home safely.

December 8th - DAVE at Aunt Kate's - The rain came twice, that was enough. I played about half the gig then had to call it quits. Never fails in Florida, as I was loading out the sun burst through the sky and I was sweating my ass off it got so hot. Go figure. Still overall it was a great weekend! See you next month!

"Don't Stare At The Sun" has been released! So I've started working on "The Big Lonesome Rides Again" with Jim at Retrophonics. Also will get back to work on "Live And A Little Touched" with Dan at Bagan and Company. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someone's day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! Speak of the good things going on, there's enough talk of the bad! Do the right thing whenever you can it will make this world a better place to live in! Keepin' It Real! -David

November 25th, The Big Lonesome, Retrophonics Studios - Jim and I started working on the tracks that The Big Lonesome started in 2011. I'm m going to finish it up by next year with Frankie, Tony, Sue and George's help. We are going to complete this project. This was a dream band, these were all great players whom  I've had the chance to play with over the years. What makes it so special is to include musicians that I currently work with and one of The Big Lonesome's original members Frankie Urzetta. We are going to see this project completed. I am proud to be working with Jim Devito at Retrophonics.

November 26th, George's house - George and I worked on "Nothin' At All" and started writing on "Telephone Lightin'". It's good to be back working with George. We are also getting back to work on "Confederate Lament" a song we co-wrote with the great Don Oja Dunaway. We already have an instrumental "Dust them Blinds" we co-wrote with Sue Westcott pretty much complete. We are on our way to starting another project. I'm excited!

November 27th, Carpetbaggers DAVE, Sue and George, Hurricane Grill and Wings - What a great night! Great crowd! We had Mel Rogers, a friend of Sue's from Alabama sit in and she was fantastic! I hope to get her playing some tracks on my next projects, a solo CD I'm working on, "The Big Lonesome" CD that Frankie and I are going to finish up or the CD George and I hope to start working on after our "Don't Stare At The Sun" CD release.

November 28th, Happy Thanksgiving! - I met my brother Will along with Jay for an afternoon Thanksgiving dinner at the Corner Bar. Thanks for my dinner Pat. We were surprised by Brady Green and Doug Hyde. After our dinner Jay and I went to Dan and Suzy's for some pre-dinner snacks (deviled eggs and pigs in a blanket). Then I dropped Jay off at home and was picked up by Jim Grimes and we went to Thanksgiving dinner at Wayne and Sue's. It was a great feast and a great time!

November 29th, 30th and December 1st, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - My first of three days at this venue went well. It was a nice day on the porch by the water. The place was packed, it couldn't have been any better. Day 2 on the porch was beautiful! Great crowd! I also got pooped on by one of the birds while I was playing and was informed it was good luck. Day 3 was pretty windy but there was a good amount of people that braved the wind. It turned out to be a great weekend overall. I'll be back here again performing next weekend.

Another busy week! Looking forward to getting together with Jim at Retrophonics Studioto  and continuing work on "The Big Lonesome rides Again". Also working with Dan at Bagan and Company on the final for our new CD, Carpetbaggers performing songs written by Dave and George,  and also continuing  on "Live and a Little Touched" CD. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Think and speak good thoughts, there are enough people telling you about the bad. Keepin' It Real! -David

November 11th, DAVE and George at Retrophonics Studio -  We cleaned up a couple of things on our new CD "Don't Stare At The Sun". I'm excited to hear the tracks we have found of "The Big Lonesome". This was a band that we put together around 2012 with some of my favorite players. We played some gigs for awhile and recorded this CD. Everyone sort of ended up going their separate ways and it was left unfinished until now. Frankie and I, Sue, George and Tony are going to try to finish it up. Can't wait for you guys to hear the band I loved so much!

November 12th - Off work today, Theresa and I are going to dinner at the Back 40 with Laurence and Barbara.

November 13th - Carpetbaggers DAVE, Sue and George at Hurricane Grill and Wings - It was windy and cold so we set up in the porch tent. We had a great crowd even with a little PA trouble. George and Sue rocked as usual. Looking forward to tomorrow night!

November 14th, Carpetbaggers DAVE, Frankie, George, Sue and Tony tonight at the Corner Bar -  It was great! The place was packed. We had Laurence Stevenson with us tonight also. It's always a pleasure to share the stage with this talented bunch each Thursday. See you next week!

November 15th, DAVE at Bagan and Company - Dan and I are going to go over the liners for the CD "Don't Stare At The Sun" (songs written and composed by George Reeves and I) . We are getting real close to completing this project.

November 15th, Carpetbaggers Dave and Sue at Tides Oyster Co - A nice laid back evening. I really enjoy this venue some real nice folks hangout there. See you December 20th can't wait!

November 16th, Carpetbaggers DAVE, Sue and Frankie at Zaharias- It was a cold night. It was just about to cold to play outside but we managed to make it through. Thanks for all the brave souls that came out to see us!

November 17th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - Cancelled due to weather, "Baby it's cold outside"!

November 17th, DAVE, Theresa, Dan, Sue, Wayne and Tammy - The Last Wall Tour - We all had the chance to chat and hang with Bob Margolin, a man I played with in the early 80's. Bob sounded great, what a showman! Warren Haynes is always amazing no matter what he is doing musically. Lucas Nelson and Jammie Johnson were great in their own right. Don Was, the creator and bass player, Dave Malone (Radiators), Cyril  Neville on percussion, and everybody else were all fantastic.  The sound was great, even though it was a little cold it could not stop us from listening to the whole three plus hour show. I don't do that very often anymore. Thanks Dan Bagan for getting us there and getting the tickets. It was a wonderful night!!

November 18th, Songwriters Night - Bob and I were joined by Dave Rudolf and Mark Evans. Never a dull moment when these two show up. We had a lot of fun and heard some great original music! See you next month on December 16th.

November 19th, Tom and Susan's Party - What a nice get together. The food was great, the guests were the best, Great time you guys THANKS!

November 20th, Carpetbaggers: DAVE, George and Sue at Hurricane Grill and Wings - What a night! We decided to set up outside even though it was going to be a little chilly. The place was packed! We had a lot of St. Augustine musicians show up, John Winters, Mark Evans, Dave Rudolf from Chicago, IL and Danny Roberts. Thanks everyone for showing up. See you next Wednesday.

November 21st, Carpetbaggers DAVE, Sue, George, Tony and Laurence at the Corner Bar - What a night! It was packed, everybody played their butts off. I am so proud to share the stage with these great players each week. We'll not be at the Corner Bar November 28th, Thanksgiving Day, but will return the following Thursday, December 5th.

November 22nd, DAVE and George at Bagan and Company - We hope to put a wrap on the CD design today on "Don't Stare At The Sun" and start back on "Live and a Little Touched" my next release.

November 22nd, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - The weather turned out real nice, I had a good time on the porch out by the water.

November 23rd, Carpetbaggers DAVE, Sue, Frankie and Brady at Creekside - The night was a little off as far as the audience but that didn't stop us from playing some good music. The night was nice, a fire going, hangin' out with friends playing music, it doesn't get any better than this!

November 24th - Carpetbaggers DAVE, George at Creekside - Laurence hurt his back so it was just George and I. We had a nice evening playing, as we always do. It was a little chilly but we got through it. Thanks George it was fun!

Looking forward to working at Retrophonics tomorrow. We should be finishing our CD. Also start work on The Big Lonesome tracks. It's been a great week of music. Thanks for letting me live my dream! September 11th, Travel to Virginia  - I'm scheduled to meet up with the members of The North Star Band.  I played in this group with these same guys years ago.  We are getting back together to release an old album we recorded but never was released along with 10 new songs.  Theresa and I left about 12:30 pm arrived in Fayetteville (our half way point) about 8pm. We had dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and then to bed.

September 13th, Gantt's Studio, Silver Spring, Maryland - We met around 1pm. Theresa and I had talked with Lou and he had a room close by with an extra bed, so we decided it would be better to just drop me off and I would room with Lou for the weekend instead of Theresa driving me back and forth from Northern Virginia.  Lou and I arrived at Gantt's about 1pm and thats when the work started. Paul was a little late, he got caught in traffic. We had already begun to work on the new songs, there were going to be ten total. I picked "Goose Creek" and "Whistle Blow" for my two. These were songs I played in the band back in the day but never recorded. It seemed like the right thing to do. We worked for about 10 hours on the songs we would record the next two days. Man it was great hangin' out with these guys. It was long and hard work but I loved it! After we finished up Lou and I headed back to the room. It was a great day.

September 14th and 15th, Tonal Park Studios and Travel Day - We spent 24 hours in 2 days recording. I was so tired on the way back home but it was a good tired. Everyone busted their ass, I am so proud to be a part of this project. Jim and Gantt are going to put everything together and get back with us. Long live The North Star Band! We also did a radio interview with Weasel, that was a blast! Thanks Charlie Pilzer for letting us record in your studio and Sophie Adams for all you did to help. Thanks John, Brandy and staff you guys are the best!

August 6th, Retrophonics Studio - We worked on some mixing,  Frankie will be in the next couple of weeks for background vocals and some shaker parts. After that one more trip in for Sue Westcott and we should be finished!

August 12th - I"m OFF

August 13th, Cave Canem Studios - Started going over a game plan to kick start our project "All My Heroes Were Zeros". After going trough all our notes we have 9 songs, 7 started, that means I need one more tune. If I don't have one sitting around ready I'll have to write one. It was good to catch up with Barry. Looking forward to this next adventure!

August 14th, DAVE and Sue at Hurricane Grille and Wings - Another hot evening but I guess we're in Florida. We had a nice crowd. Tammy got up and played some violin on "She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain". See you next Wednesday.

August 15th, Carpetbaggers at Corner Bar - What a great night! Frankie was a little under the weather and thought he might not be able to make it, he called while I was setting up and said there was no way he would miss the night. Frankie, Tony and Sue all kicked butt, I'm a lucky guy! Also Pam sat in on a couple (The Skinny). We'll see you next week Tony has another engagement so we will have Brady Green join us for the evening, can't wait!

August 16th, DAVE and Sue at Tides Oyster Co and Grill  - I realized after getting together with Barry on Tuesday that we needed at least one more song for our new CD "All My Heroes Were Zero's". I was working on a new tune and started thinking about a song I wrote a long time ago I always wanted to record. I found it and another song I forgot that Chris McVey and I wrote. So, I now have two more songs for our project "The Less Fortunate Ones" and "I'm So Gone". I also had a sad moment because on that same CD was a song Shelton Irwin and I wrote called "The Reason".  It was Shelton and I singing together many years ago, I loved writing with him. I wish he was still here. Later I met up with Sue for our gig. Tony Scozzaro and his wife stopped by.  We had a great night Sue is the best. We will be back on the 3rd Friday of November,  see you there!

August 17th, DAVE, Frankie and Sue at Zaharias - The rain held off and we had a great night. It's so much fun playing with these two great musicians. We sent George a version of our new song "Dust Them Blinds" that George and I wrote with Sue. Thanks Angelika and staff you guys are the best! See you on the 28th!

August 18th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - I just started and it began to rain. I re-set up inside and finished the gig.  See you guys at the beginning of the month for three days; Sept 6th, 7th and 8th, can't wait!

It was nice to get together with Barry and make some plans and go through the music for our project "All My Heroes Weren't Zero's". I also got together with Dan at IAUGI Studios and worked on the cover idea for "Don't Stare At The Sun" the CD George and I have been working on. It's songs we wrote performed by various members of the Carpetbaggers. I'm really excited about it.  Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someone's day, even your own! Think and talk about the good things people do, there's enough talk about the bad to go around! Keepin' It Real! -David

July 23rd, Travel Day, Canada - We had a 9:15am flight to catch in Jacksonville so we headed to the airport a few hours before.  We had to catch a 1:10pm connection in Charlotte on to Toronto. The first leg of the trip over went fine. We arrived at Charlotte and in plenty of time for our flight. As we were barreling down the runway, ready to lift off, the pilot aborted the take off because of a parking break light that wouldn't go off. Thats when our trip took a turn for the worse. After sitting on the plane for a while they decided it wasn't going to be an easy fix and canceled the flight. We stood in a line at customer service for what seemed like an eternity. Looking back I could not see the end of the line so I guess we were lucky. We ended up finally being booked on an Air Canada flight to get us to Toronto which left at 6:45pm that evening.   American Airlines originally wanted to put us on a flight that left at 3pm the next day. We said no way. They gave us vouchers for lunch, first good thing that happened.  They told us to check in at the gate, to find out once we got there that we had to leave the secure area re-checkin for boarding passes and pass thru security again (pain in the ass).  After all that aggravation we had some time for a bite to eat and drinks, 2nd good thing that happened. When we finally arrived in Toronto, we got through customs and went to pick up my bag and guitar, we found out that they didn't make it on the plane. Theresa carried hers and checked it at the plane which was a good idea. After realizing the baggage wasn't going to magically appear that night, we went on to the hotel. After an all day affair, we arrived at the hotel about 10:30 pm, we should have been there before 4pm.

We checked the bar in the hotel on the way in to see what time they quit serving and the bartender said 11:00 pm, 3rd good thing that happened. We carried Theresa's bag to the room and went down to the bar and ordered a couple of appetizers and a couple of drinks, 4th good thing that happened. We stayed an extra dat in Toronto in hopes that my bag and guitar would arrive. It was kind of a nice restful day after experience the previous day except for trying to track my guitar and bag up the East coast. We ate at Tuckers for dinner, 5th good thing that happened. About midnight Theresa informed me that my bag and guitar had arrived in Toronto and that we should go there and try to get them. We caught the shuttle to the airport. Air Canada did not have our bags yet, they were at the American Airlines baggage claim, that's what a "snotty" baggage girl said at the Air Canada counter so we took the train to Terminal 3 where American Airline is and stopped at their information counter where we met another "snotty" girl who said the baggage was back at Air Canada. We started to go back again and I turned around and went back to the counter and asked "what in hell was going on!" Thank goodness a man sitting next to the "snotty" girl said  to calm down, he would help. He got on the phone and magically my guitar appeared, 5 1/2 good thing that happened, but no bag, that was somewhere between Air Canada and American Airlines, on some kind of moving belt, I think, so back on the train to Terminal 1 to Air Canada we went to see the other "snotty" girl again. She seemed pretty unhappy to see us again and informed us there was nothing she could do, but then another guy steps in and said he could help us. and magically the bag came out through the baggage carousel. That was the 6th good thing that happened. We got back to the hotel about 2 am. I took a shower and put on fresh clothes, YAY! We will meet Laurence that afternoon to head to his place. We arrived at Laurence and Barbara's, traffic was pretty heavy going and coming from Toronto for Laurence. We went to dinner at  The Whistling Duck , the food was great, we had a table right by the water, really enjoyed it! The next day we played at Arthur's Pub in Cobourg. We had a pretty small but nice crowd who wanted to hear our originals. The next night we played at The Thirsty Goose in Port Hope, a great place. I had a great time at both of these venues and would play at both again in a heartbeat. Sunday we got up and packed and went to the Big Apple for brunch with Barbara and Laurence. It was a good week. It had a crazy start but over all it was relaxing at the Stevenson's. Theresa and Barbara had some time to swim and we had a chance to get some more cool rocks for Laurence to bring down when he comes. Also had a chance to listen to some of the live cuts from last year at the Corner Bar that we plan on turning into another "Live At The Corner Bar" CD. Laurence dropped us at the hotel on Sunday and we went back to Tuckers for another great dinner. We had an early flight and arrived back in Jacksonville mid-afternoon. The return flight was pretty uneventful. It was a nice trip overall, thanks Theresa for all your patience. It's nice to be home.

July 31st, DAVE and Sue at Hurricane Grill and Wings - We had a great night! It's good to be back.

August 1st, Carpetbaggers at Corner Bar - It was Tony, Frankie, Sue and I. A nice crowd, played some good music!

June 19th, Travel Day - We were ready to go as soon as Theresa got off work, the car was loaded and we headed for Yellow Mountain. It was a nice problem free trip. We chatted with George and Deborah for a bit then hit the sack. It's nice to be in NC!

June 20th - Normaly we would have been playing somewhere, but it didn't work out which was fine by me. We had a nice relaxing day and had a chance to do some writing with George. We pretty much finished "Dust Them Blinds" an instumental and started on another idea I had. Some reading, great food, listening to the wind and rain, it doesn't get much better than this!

June 21st, Lazy Hiker - We worked on our two new tunes, and sent Sue Westcott a video of our new instumental "Dust Them Blinds". I can't wait to record this one. Later on we headed down the mountain to Franklin for the gig at Lazy Hiker. It was a great time, we met some great folks.

June 22nd - Whitetside Brewing Company - We worked on aother new tune "Save My Soul". It dosen't look like we're going to get it done before I leave. This has been a great trip for writing, I wish we had more time. The rain held off and we had a great night! This is a real nice place to play and the owners want to have a real writers night when I get back in October.

June 23rd, Travel Day - We were up to leave about 7am, Deborah and George weren't moving about so we just took off. It was a nice ride home, we ajusted our route so we might intersect my Dad and Uncle Charley who were coming up the road from Florida. We missed them and got a little lost that added about an hour and a half to our trip. It was a good trip.

June 24th, OFF - We went to Mayo Clinic for my 6 month check up, everything was good! On our way back to St. Augustine we met Barry and Lydia for a spur of the moment late lunch. It was really nice to cath up with our friends.

June 25th, IAUGI Studios - Dan and I worked on an idea for the cover for George and my new CD. We tried to find what tracks are on the North Star Band, soon to be CD, but were unsuccessful. Also worked on "Midnight Blue" our next video.

June 29th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - It looked like rain all day, I played most of the gig before it came down. It was fun while it lasted! Packed up and headed to Creekside where I will be playing with the Carpetbaggers. I had a great night! Brady, Sue and Frankie kicked butt as always! Sue and I will take the stage at Creekside tommorow at 5pm.

June 30th, DAVE at Creekside - Sue and I had a great night, but we weren't as lucky as last night. It started to rain about half way thrugh the night. That was all she wrote. We waded through the water to load our gear up and called it a night. We were lucky the rain came straight down.

July 1st, Retrophonics Studios - Jim and I worked on the mix for Al and Francine and made plans for the songs I will re-sing. I think there are 3 to do.

July 1st, DAVE at JT's Seafood Shack - It was a nice evening down in the Hammock. It's always fun to play at this great place. See you August 5th!

July 4th - My sisters birthday,  I miss you. Joe and Elaine invited me over to their place. What a house. The 4th floor is unbelievable! We talked about playing on the roof top. I hope to do it when George, Laurence and Bill get back in town. There's plenty of room that's for sure! I wrote a new tune, me and an unknown author called "Let Me Go".

July 5th & 6th, DAVE at Aunt Kates and Creekside - It went well untill about 2:30 then the weather that was threatening finally moved in. I will be playing an extra hour or so tommorow. After stowing my gear I headed for Creekside where I unloaded in the rain got set up, changed clothes, had a bowl of soup and an order of coleslaw, then it was time to play. I had Brady, Sue, and Woody Pernell with me tonight. It was inside becuase the weather was a nasty.  The crowd was small but mighty. I am a lucky dude to be playing with these great musicians every week. Thanks Creekside!!!

July 7th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - I played a four hour gig to make up for the two short days. Brian said I didn't have to but they treat me so good there I felt like I needed to. I had a great long afternoon on the porch by the water. I stopped down at Mike's Place in back and had some great ribs and stuffed banana pepers wrapped in bacon.

It's been another long but great week. I'm looking forward to being in the studio at Retrophonics on Monday. I talked to Barry from Cave Canem Studios and we are going to try to get together soon. Until then, he's going to locate the tracks from the Big Lonesome sessions. I have in mind to finish that next. That is, after Jim and I finish the CD George and I have been working on. January 21st, Retrophonics Studio - George and I worked on "The Ink has Dried" and "Home" with Jim today. Our CD is coming along great!

January 21st, Songwriter's Night at the Corner Bar - Songwriters Night - The place was packed!  Charley Simmons, Uncle Eddie and Robin  were our guests tonight. This is an event I look forward to each month. I'm a lucky guy! Thnks everyone for supporting our writers night, next month, February 18th, it will be Dave Rudolf and Mark Evans!

January 22nd, No gig tonight, I worked in the yard and tried to help Jay the best I could with some body work on the truck. I think I mostly got in the way. Later we met Sue and Wayne for Brady's birthday dinner at Corner Sushi. A good day off!

January 23rd, DAVE at Hurricane Grill and Wings - It was cold and windy but George, Laurence and I braved it. For the conditions we had a nice crowd.

January 24th, IAUGI Studios - We worked some more on "Some Can Never Say Goodbye". It should be done soon. Can't wait!

January 24th, The Carpetbaggers at the Corner Bar - Great night! The place was packed! The Band was Brady,  Laurence, Frankie, Greorge and I. Special appearence by John Winters. One reason was it was Sheryls birthday party! Thanks everyone for supporting The Carpetbaggers music!

January 25th, DAVE at Aunt Kate's - It was a nice relaxing evening. I was inside, I had a few old friends stop by, played some of my 90's tunes I don't play that often.

January 26th, The Carpetbaggers at Creekside - It was to cold to play outside so we set up inside. Tonight The Carpetbaggers were Brady, Frankie, George, Sue and I. It was a blast!

January 27th, DAVE at Creekside - Laurence Stevenson with me tonight. It was cold, rainy and windy, 3 reasons to not go out tonight. A few braved the weather, we played until they couldn't take it any longer.

Another great week! The rain has finally ended, it's just cold now. Oh well, looking forward to this week. I will be at IAUGI Studios with Dan Bagan, hopefully we will be putting the finishing touches on "Some Can Never Say Goodbye". No studio for George and I at Retrophonics we will be back next Monday. Thanks for letting me live my dream! Stop texting, start talking! Don't liter! Smile it could brighten someones day, even your own! Early detection can save your life! Keepin' It Real! -David
